The motor is strong and it did the job I needed it to. I ran this for days without turning it off, and had no problems. I would recommend this work horse to anyone looking for a strong fan at a good price. Thank you Amazon for having these in stock when I couldn't find one within 100 miles of the Jersey Shore. ### ⭐ better built one *by S***. on August 20, 2014* I purchased my first one and it worked and continues to work perfectly. The second one lasted less than a week before it started to shake apart and spark internally. I had to return that one and reorder a replacement. That one came destroyed in shipping, so I reordered another. It arrived intact, and lasted exactly 20 minutes before it began shaking violently. I'm about to return this one and probably replace it with a different, better built one. ### ⭐⭐ Over-Powered For Residential Use, Really just a 1-Speed Blower *by M***N on April 11, 2013* As far as I can tell this is well built, but it is ridiculously powerful for my application, which is to dry out the carpet in a small room in my basement that got wet from a water heater that leaked. In a situation like I have, generally you just want to lift up a small section of the carpet and stick the blower under it and dry the carpet and tack it back down again. This monster is so powerful, even on the low setting, that it will uninstall all the carpet off your floor and blow the pictures off the walls in the process. I can imagine it as being of more use in a large industrial application, like a in a movie theater that got flooded, for instance.Here are the specs, by the way:Volts: 115V, 60HzCurrent: 11/12/13 AmpsMotor: 1.0 HPSpeeds: 3AirFlow 4030 CFMAir Direction: 3 positions 0/45/90 degreesWeight 36 lbsWarranty: 1 year Parts, 5 year housingCord Length: 25 FeetDimensions: 21W x 19.5L x 21H (inches)Notice that at 11/12/13 Amps there isn't much difference in the power level of the 3 different speeds. If they had configured this blower so that it could be switched at something like 4/8/13 Amps, it would have been a terrific product. In fact, I believe that the product description claiming "3 speeds" is misleading since there isn't much difference between any of the settings.My advice: Don't buy this monster unless you know exactly what you're doing. For normal residential applications, I would guess that you would probably want something with a switch setting of perhaps 2/4/8 Amps.*********** UPDATE - PROBLEM SOLVED ***********I cut a piece of 1/4" plywood, drilled 2 holes, and installed the plywood over the output vent of the blower so that about one-half of the hole is covered. This reduces the CFM to about what you would get from a blower obtained from your local equipment rental store. Then, if you ever happen to want full power, all you have to do is remove two screws and remove the plywood. As an option, incidentally, one could also turn the screw holes in the plywood into slots so that the cover would be adjustable. Or, you could, of course, simply drill some more mounting holes in the flange of the blower.Using a "Kill A Watt" meter (Amazon has some), I measured the electrical usage with the output vent half covered as follows:LOW SETTING: 4.6 Amps, 542 WattsMEDIUM SETTING: 5.5 Amps, 620 WattsHIGH SETTING: 8.0 Amps, 812 WattsDoes restricting the size of the output vent reduce the load life of the motor? I don't know. Does it increase the service life of the motor? To be honest, I don't have a clue.
