Let me clear a few things up too! - I love Chris and his Wife and I'm glad I spent the 3$ or so on the Kindle version of this. The book starts out talking about more important things than what you eat - the mental stuff, the will power, making promises, and it is a great read for anyone and everyone!!! He gives a few examples of clients he has helped throughout the book in a few chapters. It seemed a bit repetitive, but guess what.... I have trouble remembering peoples names and was told I should repeat a persons name 3 times when I meet them. I'm sure it's the same for this book. He repeats himself a bit throughout the book and by the end you remember everything he said. He covers the exercises with pictures and explains how you should do them (when, how many, how long, etc). He explains metabolism, what makes Carb-cycling work, what's a protein, what's a carb, what's a fat and a vegetable. There is a big list of all kinds of foods that is great!!! That's the part that is most helpful for me. (I'm such a picky eater, I don't see me trying any of the recipes.) Let me cover some confusing things about the book though! First off, I saw a review that said the kindle version isn't good because of the pictures. Yes, there are charts/pictures in the book that are small to read the text in, BUT if you hold your finger on the picture, it allows you to open the picture and you can pinch/spread two fingers to zoom out/into the picture so you can read it better. One thing that confused me is that he mentions you can eat as many veggies as you want!!! But if you look under the list of foods, Root veggies (Beets, Carrots, Potatoes, corn, peas) are CARBS! So you can't have them on a low-carb day/meal! Another thing you need to know. I think it was mentioned once or twice - I wasn't 100% sure - All fruits are CARBS! In the "ready to eat meals" near the end, he mentions that for carbs, fruit is always a great choice on the go. He didn't list fruits under the Carb section when he listed foods, they had their own section. (Or it didn't look it on my kindle...) No wonder weigh loss is so hard for people... we are constantly inhaling carbs without realizing it! Just knowing that those root veggies and fruits are all carbs, I'm sure cutting back on them at a few meals would make all the difference! (Plus exercising first thing in the morning). Other than that, the book was clear and a good read, and I feel much smarter about what I'm eating. Even if you don't follow the car-cycling plan, this book can give you the power and knowledge to make a difference in your life. good quality content, fast read, some repetition
Chris Powell is so inspiring on those extreme weightloss shows where people lose over 50% of their body weight (understanding that they are considered morbidly obese in those cases shown and they need to change or die, literally), I had to see what the foundation of this program was outside of hard working good old fashioned exercise. At the core, this is about fundamental life change. this includes being honest with yourself, retraining your mind, making positive mental connections with activities that make you feel stronger, active, more energetic, thinner, etc. he includes exercise plans but most importantly, a solid approach to eating using carb cycling - with variations depending on your goals. its well worth the read to understand this theory as it does work to change metabolism - and it made me want to read other's perspectives on the same subject. he talks about training your "furnace" to burn calories more efficiently with a combination of food and exercise. some of the book is a bit too motivational - like a silly rubber hammer blasting you on the head repeatedly - but you know, this may really work for some who may really need to hear that theme repeated (he is a motivational life coach after all). i didn't need the reinforcement or sell, just the data. my reason for reading was simply being out of shape and looking at this ultra fit dude who literally transforms peoples lives saying - if this works for them, i gotta read this. solid info, very quick read (done in two days), but also a good reference for food, daily habits, exercises, etc.

Fantastic book, easy to read ,very motivational
I have hit a plateau and literally stopped losing weight ,though I have exercised a lot mainly running. This books seems confusing at first but after I actually kept re reading paragraphs I really understood the concept behind it . Chris makes you visualize it all. It's very motivational , I like when he writes : your day starts now! found all his tips and techniques very useful and best of all the carb cycling lets you have cheat days as well as what he calls a slingshot week for when you do hit the plateau( which you inevitably will). Another great thing about the 9 minute missions ,his set of exercises targets different muscle groups so if you wake up with sore arms the next day you will do abs ( for example) and that's perfect for when you really don't feel like you can do more arms. So your muscles have a chance to rest while you are working on a different body part. I recommend getting this in regular book because I got the kindle and it's hard to keep going back to look at the exercises and recipes when you are reading another chapter.

Pretty Good
I have had success with diet plans in the past, and a friend recommended this one to me. Overall I was initially successful, but I ended up switching back to a previous plan. Here is my breakdown: If you are going to do this you need to read through the whole book save the success stories. I didn't find them particularly inspiring because I know what the Biggest Loser is all about. I appreciated that this book went through how the diet works, why it works, and then options are provided. This book provides 3-4 diet plans based on how quickly you want to lose weight. The layout: The book is easy to follow. About 3/4 of the way through you get to the meat and potatoes of the diet plan. Like many other plans there are example foods listed along with a suggested portion. For this one you will need a food scale unless you want to use your palm/fist for estimations. Example meals/recipes follow. What I really like about the plan is that it is designed for you to eat 5 meals 1 every 3 hours. There was no question about what I should be eating and when. Diet: I chose the hardest plan initially which was 2 low carb days, 1 high carb, 2 low carb days, 1 high carb, and a reward day. You repeat this cycle for 3 weeks and the 4th week you get what he refers to as a "slingshot week" which is all high carb days for 7 days. The first two days were terrible. I definitely had some serious sugar withdrawal. After that I felt great doing the diet, although on my 2nd low carb days I usually did feel low energy as the book states you may. The first week I lost 8lbs. Consecutive weeks I lost anywhere from 1 to 2 lbs. My struggle with the plan was when I came to the slingshot week. It was very hard for me to incorporate so many healthy carbs into that week. Especially since I don't care for the healthy ones all that much. I was not able to follow the diet the whole week and ended up cheating quite a bit more than I should have. That being said, I still had only gained a few pounds back as the book stated would happen. I did try some of the recipes in the book. I was fond of the beef stir fry, which is basically just less seasoned less than you would normally make one. Otherwise I wasn't particularly impressed with the examples. But this is a diet guide not a Michelin star guide right!? In hindsight I think I should have picked an easier plan. Easier plan being more high carb days and cheat meals. If you are in it for the long haul you will definitely still lose the weight. I was just feeling especially impatient and guilty. So I started off strong and faded out around the 6th week. The exercise: The exercise was my least favorite element of this plan only because it was hard to follow. It is broken into 2 types of exercise; the 9 minute mission, and cardio. 9 minute missions are a rotation of 3 exercises that you do for different periods of time depending on what type of mission is assigned for the day. LOTS of exercises follow in the book and exercises are usually described with 3 pictures and text. For the cardio you start with 5 minutes and you add time on in 5 minutes increments I believe once a week. I did a couple of the missions and none of the cardio. A video representation of the exercises would have been much more effective. To successfully complete the exercise in the morning I had to: read the exercises the night before and book mark each one, and also read about what order/time increments I would be doing them in. Then in the morning I referred back and forth to the exercise instruction to complete it. I'm pretty comfortable with exercise, and I found this method very confusing and time consuming. Overall I feel this book would be best for someone who is not in a huge rush to lose weight or is fit and wanting to use his fitness weight loss plan. I think I would have been more successful if I picked a more forgiving plan. My best advice is pick the plan you know will REALLY work for you. If you are like me coming from a household that is used to eating out, drinking wine, and have an irregular diet then pick the slower weight loss plan. It will work, and you won't do what I did which was complete my transformation into a deprived pizza monster. Best of luck to you!

Great Book, Informative and Easy Read.
I received my book yesterday. Jan 3, 2015. Since I was home fighting a cold I read almost the entire book. I still have the last appendix to get thru. I did some of the questions and answer parts. and left other parts for when I start the carb cycling. I found this to be very informative. Easy to read, I'm dyslexic so If I can get thru it in 5 hours then Its a great book. I found the peoples stories to be touching and even though I'm not morbidly over weight, I truly believe the diet is doable and my goal to take of weight I gain due to having had major damage and surgeries to both legs, I can do modified versions of most of the exercises. Those I can't do I will substitute with another exercise that will work on the same area. For anyone whose looking to change their life and work on being the best you that you can be. I would recommend reading this book.

Great book and inspirational guide
So it’s no secret that I’m a dedicated fan of Chris Powell. But that’s beside the point. I’ve done his carb cycling program before with success and am doing his carb cycling challenge right now. I could not find the book I bought years ago so I bought this hardback so he can sign it. He is not out to revolutionize the world with a new plan. He’s using a tried and true plan to help obese persons. And God bless him. Depending on how overweight you are, initially you can use this plan to lose 5-10 pounds per week and change your eating habits for life. Give it a try!

Worst book ever
This book is for extreme beginners. Like who don't even know what calorie is. This book has fixed amount of calories for high and low carb days irrespective of your weight Meal size is based on your palm size, no calorie counting, no weighing nothing. Worst worst worst This book was biggest mistake of my life.

Good plan but it could be explained in an easier way
The information is a bit complicated and sometimes is difficult to understand what is a portion. Also there is no info about how much coconut oil you can use, and this is an oil that is used a lot these days especially by healthy councious people. The program seems really good, I am sure it's easier to understand when you actually start doing it but it will help if there was an appendix in form of a folding page attached to the book that you can tear up, like charts with all the info together of what you have to exercise and eat everyday. And if it's not possible, doing it in separate folding charts that you can tear up and put up in a pin board and is easier to follow.

Have fun!
After four weeks of the "Classic Circle", I downloaded this book and switched to the new exercises. The nine minute missions provide you with much more variety in the morning. The four types of circles inspire you to choose the appropriate one for yourself - but as the classic on had worked for me, I didn't need to change it. I also didn't switch to the new Shredders, because they seem to be very short in time at the beginning, but also very intensive. I`m fifty and still struggle with daily intensive exercises - so I decided to do shredders daily, on interval mode or things like aerobics, but not exactly according to this plans. At least at the beginning the intervalls are to short and challenging for my age.
