A great comic for a great price
I read this book twice in a row, and it was just as good the second time. All the characters while feeling 1 dimentional, do something not common. They all feel like real people. People that can and do exist. Maybe not all the demons and angels but the humans. It's important though to realize a good amount of this is tongue and cheek, purposefully over the top. If you know that you'll have a much better experience. Cause there are funny moments, but not a lot are overt. Like there are only flat out jokes in the first part. The art, while it makes mistakes at times, is fun and stylized. Very angular like Jhonen Vasquezs workOverall it's a great experience and one i'd recommend to fans of metal, demons, and dark fantasy. It's a fun, brutal, and engaging adventure, over 650 pages. It's worth picking up

Tone Shift
This adaptation of the Hero Cycle tells the tale of misunderstood twins Shawn and Sam Stronghand who are enthralled body, mind, and spirit by the darkest of metal. Backmasking the latest Frost Axe album catapults the brothers into an epic quest that ultimately reveals their destiny. This is an interesting read that seems to avoid taking itself too seriously for the first half. Unfortunately, mid-way through the tone shifts - as if Spears became so involved in the telling of the story that he forgot to maintain the tongue-and-cheekiness that made it a far more endearing read.
