Works really well passing ethernet signal
I had tried 2 other lightning arresters. One switched the signal from 4 to 5. The other, did not switch any signals, but would not work in my setup. Perhaps I should explain my set up. I have a micro wave antenna which captures a signal from my ISP and converts it to an Ethernet signal. We live on a mountain in Tennessee which is often struck by lightning. Therefore, I really need lightning protection on any wired connection. From the ethernet signal from the antenna I connect with an ethernet 8 rj45 unmanned switch which supplies my EERO gateway and the fiberglass connection to my office. The other 2 arresters would not work. This one seems to pass the ethernet signal flawlessly. It is not connected to ground. All of the other 2 are connected to ground. Whether it will protect against lightning I do not know. When we have another storm with cloud to ground lightning I will report again. Amazon lets one add to reviews.

They plug in
Beyond that cannot tell. Will have to wait for next lightning storm. Not definitive but if I find dead electronics and what I have on these survive its good. If dead just cannot say as lightning is unpredictable in its effects. Ditto for line surges, brownouts and plain old powerline noise.

fingers crossed
We had a lightning strike that took out all sorts of stuff, mostly internet stuff including stuff that was on surge/UPS protection. I now have an earth grounded surge protector on the twisted pair that comes in from AT&T. We assume that's how it got in and spread. These are in-line and don't require an earth ground so I put one on my generator (lost the logic board on this) and one on the line between my gateway and my switch.

Total Failure! Burnt out Router and Switch Because These Failed to Provide any Protection at all.
Don't waste your money! Total Fail in both directions! Storm in the area, no lightning strikes on property, the closest one was up the road (maybe 1/3rd to 1/2 mile) and we heard a loud pop in the house like someone had fired a .22 rifle inside. Discovered both ends of the 75 foot fully shielded Cat7 underground class buried cable between the house and a seperated apartment which was protected at each end with one of these had burn marks where they plugged into these. Inside the house we lost a $200+ router and a $100+ gaming spliter in the apartment. Checked them and they still allow signal through even now and they should not after a surge! Which means they allowed the surge to pass straight through never tripping themselves ~ the whole point of this design of this kind of SACRIFICIAL surge protector is that they are SUPPOSED to pop themselves to protect the other equipment but they didn't! Total Failure!
