desertcart.com: My First Bilingual BookโAnimals (EnglishโArabic) (English and Arabic Edition): 9781840596083: Milet Publishing: Books Review: Books like these entice little ones to look and look - I really like all of the "My First Bilingual" series board books. We've checked out several from the library...about musical instruments, fruits & veggies...and now own a few in French-English and Arabic-English. Each page contains just one vibrant photo or drawing that really pops with detail and color. I don't expect my baby to read the bilingual words but believe every bit of exposure to written and spoken words is important for future literacy. My little guy is only 8 months old and already loves books and holds them properly. Books like these entice little ones to look and look...and I can imagine him coming back when he is older, wanting to learn the vocab too! Review: I bought the English-Urdu ones... - ...these arent perfect but they are better than anything. D loves the pictures and loves hearing the Urdu and English together. These are kind of pricey but they are worth it to me since it gives me a way to teach my daughter some Urdu. Yes, some of it is off but perfection is not the attempt, I would be happy if my D learns enough to talk and communicate well. I bought quite a few in the series and all are enjoyed thoroughly by D.

Brightly colored sturdy pages. Wish there was a pronunciation guide for the non native Polish reader.

Recommended it for any bilingual (Polish - English) family
I am Polish. My husband is Jamaican. My daughters were born in the US, where we all live. English language is our way of communication, and since I speak Polish only with my parents, it became a second language to me (although I grew up with it). My daughters watch cartoons in English, we read bedtime stories mostly in English (mainly because they do not understand Polish well), they hear me and my husband speak English, they interact with neighbours and their children in English. There is just not enough motivation for them to even try to speak Polish, and when it is time for me to communicate with them so they understand, English is so much easier. At the same time I do feel bad that I did not put more effort in teaching the kids my language. I also want them to be able to communicate with their grandparents. This is how this book became a part of our library. The girls are 3yo now and find it fun to repeat words. Looking at the pictures makes it more fun for them to learn. I do see a slow progress since I introduced this book to my girls. Recommended it for any bilingual (Polish - English) family.

DOESNT HAVE PHOENETIC SPELLING
The quality of the board book is good and the pictures are nice. However, the book is useless if you don't already know the non-English language! Especially if that language doesn't have Roman letters (the way Spanish, French, etc does). I'll probably keep it and write the English transliteration in permanent marker but I wanted these as a gift, and that would either give the recipient work, or me work in returning it.

Great quality book.
My son loves it. The pictures are very bright and high quality. Pages are thick, great for small children. I will buy additional books of this bi-lingual series. My mom use it too, she has just started to learn English :) Pieknie wydana ksiazka, dobrej jakosci zdjecia i wyrazne kolory. Moj synek bardzo lubi ja przegladac i robi to sam gdyz strony sa grubsze i latwe w przewracaniu dla malych paluszkow :)

Perfect book for toddlers. My almost 2 year old loves it. Each page contains an individual animal with the Italian name and English name underneath. It is a board book so it's also perfect for little ones that tend to tear everything.
