Like a mid sized vitamin - not the super big ones like iron pills, but somewhat bigger than the blue&red acetaminophen capsules. No dull feelings, just even and better. Highly recommend! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective for my bipolar disorder *by R***. on July 16, 2020* I use this for bipolar disorder, and it works well. At first I was using 2 capsules (40mg), which worked almost instantly to calm my mixed episodes. Eventually I went down to 30mg (adding a 10mg capsule to the one 20mg cap), and now I find that just 20mg works well. A couple years ago I tried the 20mg capsules for a couple weeks and didn’t think they helped. If that is you, I recommend starting higher (40mg all at once) so you can clearly feel the benefit, and reducing as the effects build up. I also recommend taking these later in the day, as they can make you extremely sleepy otherwise. At first I was taking half my dose in the early afternoon, and half around dinner, but it would ruin my day, because I just wanted to sleep all afternoon. Interestingly, these do not make me extra sleepy at night. I think they disrupt the circadian rhythm if taken too early. These also help for alcohol cravings, and if you’re trying to quit you could try upping your dose temporarily. I’m not sure lithium has done much for my depression (conversely I started on 300mg 5-Htp recently, and that helps), but it has made me a calmer, more patient, easier to get along with person. And I’m hoping it protects me from Alzheimer’s, since I am homozygous for APoe-E4.
