Ls forever
I am old school racing but when I found LS engines that opened my eyes forever. This style of engine really makes a lot of power for the money.

Who picked Black & White newsprint?
I'm enjoying the text of this book--though it is a bit dated (2009 typical) for a relatively newly released book. It does have lots of information--particularly concerning development of these great engines. Aftermarket power adder devices are shown (super-chargers & turbos from numerous sources,) and build ideas for everything from LT1's making 800 hp to ls9's and how GM builds / quality-controls these beasts.BUT THE WHOLE DARN THING IS IN BLACK & WHITE! Even the pictures captions indicate points of interest by their color--for example one caption refers to the yellow line on a graph--but there is no yellow. Some clown saved a few bucks on this book, but they really ruin the work by doing so. There are half or full-page pictures of 900 hp engines--but they aren't very interesting in gray scale. I'm frankly surprised that a magazine based publisher would make this kind of rookie mistake. Even the quality of the paper and binding are low. I've already torn pages accidentally ( feels a little like newspaper, but heavier,) and I've had my 2 year-old break the binding in a split second of inattendance! So in short, if you like reading about these things (as I do,) there is lots to enjoy-- but if the pictures of these things are the real key points for you, you are going to be annoyed (which I am.). This book is a mixed bag of good information about overall options in powerful engine builds-- and a low quality money saving book manufacturing methods. If I had to vote yes or no, I'd say pass on this--the shabby build is just too annoying.

Not What I Thought It was going to be
This book does not talk about performance upgrades for the truck engines. It does mention boring a truck motor to 5.7 liter specs, but offers little in power adders, cams, intakes, or piston swaps.
