In tank filter system for very "dirty" fish (xtra large Goldfish).
I had a canister filter, but was not able to maintain it (regular cleanings due to sustaining a broken hip); & so half of the fish in my aquarium died. I purchased this "in-tank" filter (which is much easier to maintain even with a broken hip) & my fish are once again thriving! I highly recommend this filter! For the filter "product" to put in the individual filter drawers; I purchased the refill empty filter sacs for the Tetra in Tank power filter (medium size) & then filled them with activated carbon & some ammonia removing pellets & put one in each drawer. It works Great! I have very BIG goldfish (the size of my hand) were are an extreamly dirty fish & this tall in-tank filter is able to handle the bio-load.

Very adaptable
After trying a canister filter and it flooding the floor I looked at in the tank filters. This OASE was not one of the most "popular" brands but it caught my eye and for good reason. After buying it and running it I love what it can do. The best benefit is how it can adapt to your needs. Unlike other filters that want you to buy OEM filter products with this thing you can use whatever you want from any brand. Obviously be prepared to DIY how you get it to fit into the OASE such as cutting your sponge to size and so forth. Yet it allows you to include carbon and bio products. If you need you can get a generic bag to hold the carbon in from the lfs in town for a dollar. Set the arrangement in the OASE however you like or experiment with the setup based on the tanks needs. The downside.... I run a 65 gal planted tank so the filter is undersized by "normal" standards. BUT.... if you know what you are doing and run a balanced tank, keep fish stock light rather than like most people do in going beyond the recommended limit, then you will be okay. The only other thing that may bug some people is its size (I bought the biggest version of this they had) if you are not accustomed to seeing an in the tank filter. For planted tanks just plant around it. I cannot run an HOB and after a flooding canister this OASE is just the way to go. If you run a planted tank and prefer calmer waters set the outflow near the surface but just under the water. It provides enough circulation in my 65 gal to evenly distribute my CO2 injection which is proven by the CO2 check fluid. One more thought... I read reviews where people complained about the noise it makes.... I want to ask what noise? If you know how to set it below the surface there is no noise at all. Its not a waterfall filter it rests in the tank below the waterline.

Moves water. Filter ? Meh.
I'm not sure I would classify this as a "filter". Mechanical definitely not biological yes. All of the segments contain course sponge material that does work well for beneficial bacteria growth. However, it seems to me that water only really gets pulled through the top segment closest to the impeller. I don't think the bottom two segments do a whole lot. There are videos on Youtube where people have modified the segments to address this. It does move water well and the top spray feature is nice however for the price I would expect better engineering.

Great filter for 55 Long
Iโve had this filter for a few months now (since December I believe) I thought it might not be enough for my tank but I was surely proven wrong. This filter is great and while it may be a slight pain to clean I believe the efficiency of the filter makes it worth while

Best filtration!
This filter is so simple to set up and clean. This actually cleans the water better than my topfin cylinder filtration unit that crapped out on me in less than 6 months of owning it. I have a 65 gallon tank and I bought the Oase when my topfin stopped working and I ended up loving it because of the excellent job it does keeping my tank clean! I only have the one in my tank but I plan on buying another for the other side of my tank given the size of my tank I should use two. It gives my tank crisp clear water that I've ever had in all my tanks I've owned! I highly recommend!! You won't regret it!

So far so good after upgrade!
After ordering this system, I saw a Youtube that suggested how it would filter better. I have two filters in my 40 gallon tank to support five decent sized Comets that I brought in from my pond in the fall. It's their winter vacation spot. lol I'm amazed how much they've grown in only a few months. I have this and a Fluval and I wanted plenty of filtering because, quite frankly, I don't clean the aquarium as often as I should. I upgraded the media in this system with additional foam and bio media. The filter sits nicely in the one corner of my tank with the fluval intake at the other end with a UV light next to the output. I replaced the MarineLand Penguin 350 Power Filter when I didn't like the room it took up and the method of filtering.

Death Trap
Factory filter is not adequate at all. There is no exchange of water between all of the compartments and the way its built, water can just bypass the media. The filter works ok with adding holes to flow between the compartments, but definitely not $50 ok. This is a death trap for small fish though. I just pulled the magnetic part off and found 2 guppies stuck behind it dead. This is an unacceptable design flaw. I will be trashing this and purchasing something safer.

Great filter BUT
I've had 2 if these filters for about a year and they do work great. I love the design for quickly removing the filter from the frame for cleaning. BUT Not even a few months after I bought it the chamber locks have warped so the chambers fall away from each other as I'm moving the filter leaving a mess behind in the tank and making putting the filter back somewhat difficult. As someone else mentioned there is a periodic grinding noise from the filter that I found was from it sucking in air from I'm not sure where. I have to keep the filter completely submerged to prevent it from happening which defeats the purpose of the suface agitation from the water spray.
