Clarence Gagnon: An Introduction to His Life and Art

I bought this for my sister who has recently visited Montreal and loved it so much, she's now learning French. The reproductions of Gagnon's paintings are very good, and she was delighted that the texts explaining each painting is in English and French.

I just recently read about Gagnon in a Louise Penny mystery and immediately fell in love. I am so glad that this book was available so that I could learn more about him and his work.

Glad to have this collection of Gagnon's paintings and the commentary is good. Quality of the prints is a bit lacking, at least in this paperback version. Gagnon's colors are so vivid, and here they're a little washed out.

Lovely book with wonderful pictures of his paintings and well written by the author. I felt the beauty of Quebec and the people living in this wonderful place.

I bought this book to learn more about the author, one of whose prints I recently obtained.

This is exactly what it's aimed to be.It's an introduction to the art of the great painter.GAGNON is justly famous for his winter scenes ,which mainly showed winter in the pre-industrial years.His art marvelloussely despict CHARLEVOIX and other areas during winter.This is a time now long gone ,which is why this has become so nostalgic.

Great artist great art what a shame there is not more known about him love his paintings of Quebec rural life.
