Works great
however, i would suggest caution when using in wood with nails as the first time i used the 1-1/4' i busted the carbides... so i would suggest you meter its advance into wood that contains nails or is suspest pf hitting a nail by not pressing hard so that it takes tiny bites of any nail it may encounter versus getting the hole drilled fast with pressure to push the cutters in... then it works like a champ...Pros - fast cutting, clean hole and little effort... also nicely constructed in the way the carbides have a "V" shapened edge which helps the hole saw follow a track that holds it steady versus other manufacturers with carbides cut in a flat cutting edge which makes a bad chatter and slightly irregular hole...Cons - have to engage wood that is suspect to have nails or known to have nails with caution so as not to over bite into the nail and break the carbides... so lite metered pressure so that the nail is cut through with small bites versus hard pressure causing the cutter to engage the nail agressively which breaks the catrbides...

Broken Tooth On First Use
I was hoping for great things with this product, especially with the premium price paid. Compared to other hole saws readily available at big box home improvement stores, these saws feel very stout and are obviously a higher guage and higher quality steel. The case is also very exceptional in quality. Unfortunately, on the very first use of the 4 inch hole saw a tooth broke completely off. I was using the hole saw to cut holes for lights in the side of a house I am building. The siding on the house is made of 1-inch thick douglas fir (not known to be a hard wood) boards and batts. I noticed the broken tooth when I moved to the second hole of many that I had to drill. After seeing the broken tooth I went back to the first hole thinking that I must have hit a nail but it was clear that the only thing I had cut through was wood. Their is a lot of stress put on these types of hole saws while cutting. I bought these ones because the mandrel on the last hole saw from another manufacturer actually bent while using it to cut through the same 1-inch thick siding. This set held up much better, except for the critical broken tooth. I will not buy another hole saw at a premium price again. As solid as this product seemed to be, it is only as strong as its weakest tooth.

Fast cutting and tough compact carry case
Very fast cutting hole saws and top performance with my 18 volt cordless drills. I no longer need my large angle drill or extension cords with these cutters.Long life even with MDF and particle board materials like Advantech or plywood where bi-metal dull very quickly. I use them evenon Hardi board. The arbor adapter seemed a little loose but then I realized that it did not affect performance of the hole cutters but made it a lot easier to remove them without needing a screw driver to pry them off.Their brad point pilot bit has been handy for hard woods and plywood and does not dull quickly like the spade bits I was using before.Carry case is top notch. Very strong and good latches so it does not open in the back of my truck. Survived a 4 foot fall onto concrete with no damage.

Have you ever tried Blue Boar hole saws/cutters before?
I just recently got into wood working and most of my projects require various hole sizes. I acquired a dozen dozen hole saws by Lenox, Irwin, DeWalt, etc., to do my bidding, but after reading a couple of reviews on this kit and having some positive experience with a Lenox one tooth hole saw/cutter, I decided to give Blue Boar a shot. I'm pretty amazed at the work these hole saws can do. They have exceeded my expectations. I'm shocked that regular hole saws aren't done away with yet! These hole saws/cutters really make it easy and fast! MUCH MUCH faster than the regular hole saws you see in the stores today. I don't know why this design hasn't caught on???

Worth the money if you're a contractor who needs to make holes.
Great hole saws, I've used them a half dozen times now. They cut like a chain saw, so there's lots of wood chips when the hole is made. It does put a little stress on the drill having only 4 cutting teeth and I have to use water pump pliers to get the chuck loose after using one of the larger hole saws. It saves a lot of time compared to using the standard hole saws and they don't smoke and overheat like the standard ones. Cleaning out the wood is effortless and sometimes I don't even need a screwdriver to clear it out.
