Kefir lovers will love this product
The product itself is really good does absolutely what it needs to do. Instructions are great has a leaflet with lots of Recipes. Flavour and taste is excellent I will definitely recommend.

A glass jar with a plastic lid
This is a basic glass jar with a screw plastic lid which allows an air vent to operate during fermentation. It’s suitable for process it’s designed for. Unfortunately it is rather expensive for what it is but needs must. I’m sure there are other glass containers that would equally suffice the Kefir fermentation process

Kefir made easy!
Bought this to start making kefir. So glad I did too, as it saves so much of the 'faff': the only thing I needed to buy separately was a sieve for the kefir grains (I already had jars to transfer the kefir into). Easy to follow instructions (and a small recipe book) were included.

Handy Equipment
I like the idea of easily pouring the kefir out after fermentation but I didn't really get on that well with it. Some small bits of grain seemed to always get through and if I used the thinner side, the kefir was too thick to pour out. I resorted to just pouring straight into a sieve which is successful every time. I still like and use the jar though as it's a good size, the top can open and close to let air in if required and it has a large neck making it practical for cleaning.

Great product
This is my second Kerfiko product as I previously purchased the smaller one for making water kefir. Bought this larger size one and love it, does what it says and the lots of great ideas in the recipe book.

Update 3/12/25 This was my first time using this jar for kefir grains. I initially purchased it for water kefir grains, and it performs well. This is not the ideal jar for Kefir grains. The holes became clogged. The scraper did not do a great job of moving the grains out of the way. I had to strain the grains the old fashion way with a nylon strainer. This is a great product for water kefir. For Kefir, save your money. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update 12/2/24: I used this for a few batches and there is one thing I don't like. When you put the cover on, condensation builds up so that means that water from the cover falls into the jar. To combat this, I used a coffee filter and screwed the cover on. Condensation built up again and wet the filter but at least water doesn't fall back into the jar. I hope they fix this because the purpose of the jar is so you don't have to use anything but the cover. On my first post I said I didn't know how to put the scraper in. I tilted the scraper and popped it in the slot, and it works great. You should use this when draining your grains or leave the clear cover on. I made a mistake and took off the clear cover, didn't use the scraper either, and tilted the jar too much. A bunch of the grains escaped through the hole in the green cover where the clear cover screws in. When you drain your grains, leave the clear cover in place and open it a little bit. If you need to use the scraper, you will not lose your grains from the hole in the green cover (Some of you might have a white cover). Another thing that would be nice to fix is figuring out how to leave the scraper in and use the cover at the same time. Once you use the scraper, you won't be able to use the clear cover. All in all, I still give this item a 5. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This jar is very tall and will do well for a 32-ounce or 4 cups batch, which is perfect for me. I can pour the liquid out without having to dump it into a strainer then back into the jar to start a new batch. One thing I am concerned about is flies getting into my batch from the open cover so I will be sure to keep the opening to a minimum and my eyes on my brew.

Me tocó tirarla. Saludos

I have had the kit for 2 weeks now making milk kefir. My first impression was the bottle is very large and kit was a bit expensive. It does come with a few things, including a scraper and ladle. I mainly use the bottle with the pour top and cover. Originally I planned to assemble my own setup with 1 quart mason jar and separate tops sold by another company on Amazon. However, since, I am quite happy with the kit and find the 1.4 litre size perfect for my use. 1 qt would have been too small and the bigger jar would have taken up too much countertop space. This glass bottle is tall but not too wide. It is easy to clean; I clean the top & cover daily and the bottle weekly. Top works well and can pour the kefir fairly easily. The quality is good with thick glass. Overall, its a great product and I just ordered another kit yesterday.
