55 Gallon Open Top Barrel w/Bulkhead Fitting and Faucet

This barrel was a month and a half late getting to me, but overall the barrel is very good, thick, sturdy construction. I am pleased with the barrel and the tight fitting lid and latch assembly. There is no question that this barrel will last for many years in any weather conditions.

I was skeptical when I ordered this barrel but it's very heavy duty with a nice strong sealable lid. Great for bulk water storage and I also use a water preservative for 55 gallons of water. You will want to elevate it bit if you plan on connecting a hose to the valve as it is very close to the ground.

We needed a water storage container since the well doesn’t pump when the power goes out and this barrel fits the bill. It’s new — not a repurposed barrel — so it smells clean. One thing to be aware of is that it will not flow without a vent in the top. I filled it with water and once I opened the spigot it sucked the top down so hard I could not get it off or get the water to run through the spigot without drilling a hole in the top. So a hole saw and trip to Home Depot for some PVC parts and now it’s all set. Now it flows really well with a little venting.

Works for what I needed it for

While I like the barrel and snug fitting lid, the spigot on the bottom is very cheap plastic and prone to leaking. I have two of these barrels and both spigots have had problems. I would recommend replacing the spigots with better quality ones before putting it into use. I did drill a hole into the lid and put in a spigot to act as a vent.
