Perfect for Winter Use โ Keeps My Basketball Goal Stable!
The Illinois Winters BaseGel Polymer has been a fantastic solution for my basketball goal during the cold winter months. This product is a must-have for anyone who plays outdoors in cold weather or uses portable basketball goals. Here's why it deserves a 5-star review: ๐ Stable and Secure: The gel provides a solid, stable base for my basketball goal, even in freezing temperatures. Unlike sand or water, it doesn't freeze or become too hard, which ensures the goal stays securely in place, no matter the weather conditions. โ๏ธ Winter-Proof: Iโve used sand in the past, and during Illinois winters, it can freeze and make the base too heavy to move. BaseGel Polymer stays liquid-like, so it doesnโt freeze and makes adjusting or moving the goal hassle-free, even in freezing temperatures. ๐ง Easy to Use: Itโs super simple to pour into the base. No mess, no fuss, and itโs easy to clean if any spills occur. The instructions are clear, and it doesnโt take much time to set up, making it convenient for quick adjustments. ๐ช Durable: This polymer has proven to be long-lasting. It doesnโt leak or evaporate like water can, and it provides reliable weight to the base for as long as you need it. It holds up really well, even after long outdoor exposure to the elements. โ๏ธ Ideal Replacement: If you're looking for a replacement for your old basketball goal base filler, BaseGel Polymer is a perfect option. It works much better than other materials like sand, and itโs much less of a hassle. ๐ฏ Perfect for Indoor/Outdoor Use: Whether you're using your goal indoors during the colder months or setting it up outdoors, this product will keep your goal firmly planted where you need it. In conclusion, the Illinois Winters BaseGel Polymer has exceeded my expectations. It provides excellent stability for my basketball hoop during the winter months and has saved me from dealing with frozen or unsteady bases. If youโre looking for a reliable and easy solution to stabilize your basketball goal, this product is a game-changer. Highly recommend it!

Great Fix for a Leaky, Wobbly Basketball Hoop Base
I purchased the BaseGel Polymer as a replacement for the water fill in my basketball hoop base. Before using this product, I was dealing with two frustrating issues: the hoop was unstable and wobbly during play, and the base had developed leaks, causing the water to drain out over time โ which only made the instability worse. After finding BaseGel on Amazon, I decided to give it a try. The product worked like a charm. The polymer gel fills the base and solidifies, creating a much heavier and more stable foundation compared to water alone. Since switching to BaseGel: No more leaking โ Unlike water, the gel doesn't seep out through cracks or worn seals, so the base maintains its weight consistently. Significantly improved stability โ The hoop no longer shakes or wobbles during use. The base is now heavy enough that it stays firmly in place, even during aggressive play. Practically immovable โ The added weight makes the base very solid and stationary, which is exactly what you want for safety and performance. Overall, this is a great solution for anyone whose basketball hoop base is leaking or not heavy enough with water alone. Highly recommended and its value for money.

works great
Good product for basketball hoop base

Works good but still not heavy enough for a basketball court by itself.
Works good just as advertised but did not make the court like "heavy" at all...still needed to add bricks on the back of the court to really weigh it down. Maybe better than water just a little bit but still not the best. Something like sand might be the best but i know it'll cost more probably. Overall it works but still not enough.

No mess, no hassleโjust add water and done! ๐๐งโ๏ธ
This stuff is a game-changer! No more hauling sand or dealing with messy bagsโjust mix the BaseGel with water, pour it in, and it anchors everything perfectly. We used it for our portable basketball goal, and itโs been rock-solid ever since. Super easy to use, no cleanup, and it works exactly as advertised. ๐งช Simple mix + pour ๐ช Holds strong ๐ซ No sand, no mess Highly recommend if you want a quick, clean, and effective way to secure your base!

Created stability
This was the perfect base for my basketball hoop. I followed the instructions and it was easy to use. It created stability and weight to hold down the hoop. The hoop has a larger size backboard so stability was important. This has worked great since April 2025.

Great so far!
I was skeptical of this product at first so figured Iโll try it on a new umbrella base that we needed to get to fit a new patio umbrella. The new base for the umbrella could either be filled with sand or water. Sand costs quite a bit as I would have had to get 130lbs of it roughly and then pour it in slowly. Instead I got this product. So, I leaned the new base on its side opened up the cap on the side of it and as the package said I poured in what I thought was roughly 2/3 of it. Then filled it with water half way and then poured the rest in and filled the remainder with water leaving maybe 5โ of space between it and the cap on the side of the base. I saw it harden and it was really heavy afterwards when I laid it flat back on the ground. Thankfully I thought a base with wheels so it wasnโt hard to move and get in position under the table. The new umbrella fit perfectly and it hasnโt moved since. The product seems to work as advertised and definitely makes its heavy or heavier than sand. So I am a very happy customer so far and would recommend this product.

Not sure why the complaints. Not as difficult as it was made to seem!
Iโm not sure why some people had so many issues using this stuff, but it was really not as tricky as some of the reviewers made it seem. I bought the base and the day it went up, I quickly regretted that Iโd been scared off from purchasing this because I then faced the dilemma of how to stabilize our new basketball hoop base. I feared the water & antifreeze method knowing that many still had the cracking issue from winter freezes. I read that sand is the preferred item from the manufactures but worried about how totally immobile the hoop would then become. I came back to Amazon and ordered the gel. Meanwhile my son wanted to playโฆ we put some weights on it externally and I worried. By that evening I ran out to buy sand. First mistake, I bought sand for pavers. Despite the bag being dry, the sand wasnโt. It was coarse and damp and definitely wouldnโt pour. I wound up cupping handfuls and slowly filling that little hole with one .5 cubic ft, 50lb bag of sand! (Yes, I used a funnel, but it kept clogging, I made different variations but ultimately my hands worked best!) I returned the other 4 bags the next day and bought one bag of playground sand. Ok, that poured but still a chore and by now the H2old gel had arrived. I went online and watched videos to see the issues of how to use it and why others had problems. Now I worried if it would still work with some sand already in the base? I went to the manufacturerโs website. I filled out the form and asked the question. One of the Amazon commenters said It would be fine, but was that right? The next day I called the company and left a voice message with their customer service folks asking the question. Left another message the next day. Meanwhile the base is partially filled, my son is playing on it but lightly (!) and I am holding the bag of this stuff and fretting! OMG! LOL! The net was built on Tuesday, now itโs Sunday and Iโm about to just go for it since I never got any response from the company. Then it dawned on me that one of the videos showed a demo of how the gel forms by using a basin so you can see it firm up. So I got a kitchen basin, lined the bottom with sand guestimating the ratio of how much sand Iโd already poured into our base and then added water and a couple ounces of gel (according to the formula on the manufacturers FAQ page pasted below. It worked. The sand didnโt interfere at all. So, I grabbed the hose and started filling the base, then added the gel (our base was only 25 gallons, so I didnโt need the whole bag) and even after my experiment, I still had about 4.5 ounces leftover. At the end, Iโd read that it didnโt hurt if you used more than you needed since some people had used 2 bags, so I just dumped the rest in and even glopped the gel/sand mix in from my basin! It firmed up and is so sturdy my kid can (try to) dunk! We couldnโt budge it! So instead of worrying for days like I did, go for it. It works. (h2old.com) Portable bases vary in size from 25 gallon to 40 gallon capacity. One 16 oz bottle of BaseGel absorbs more than 40 gallons of water. A full bottle per portable base is recommended to prevent calculation errors. One ounce (weight) of BaseGel per 2.5 gallons of water may be used, at at minimum, if less than a full bottle is required (ie. 10 ounces per 25 gallon base, 14 ounces per 35 gallon base) for a base that is smaller than 25 gallons: It is recommended that a minimum of 3 tea spoons of BaseGel is added for each gallon of water, so as an example, a 4 gallon umbrella stand would need 12 tea spoons of BaseGel to absorb the water and make a gel with a firm consistency. One bottle of BaseGel contains approximately 120 tea spoons.

Works well! Enough said!
This is base gel works very well. Exactly what I was looking for for the kids basketball hoop base and badminton net base, as I did not want to use sand or simply water. Follow the instructions and add water, careful not to over do so it over expands, keeps the bases portable yet heavy enough to serve its purposes. Great product!

Did what it was supposed to do
The product does what it claims and made my son's basketball net HEAVY without the extra hassle. However, NOTE it never fully hardens and if you lie it down the mixture will all settle down wards, you wouldn't think it would be a problem but it doesn't move back quickly making the net tip so you will need to find somewhere for the net to rest while it slowly settles back to flat (for us it took a good 36hrs) and you are able to use the net again. Overall we are please but wish we knew a few things about the products weaknesses.
