I absolutely love Christmas Pudding. I grew up in England and it was a tradition to have this after dinner every year for Christmas and Boxing Day. Christmas Pudding has been part of English tradition for a long time. Traditionally, a silver sixpence was stirred in to the mix, to bring the finder wealth and good luck in the year to come. In the past it was common for every member of the household to give the Christmas pudding a stir and make a wish. Unfortunately, they no longer have silver coins in them.If you have not had Christmas Pudding before, it is a little hard to describe the taste. It is a very dense dessert and very rich. It is sort of like a stodgy fruit cake, with raisins and a cooked alcohol giving it the most flavor. I checked the Matthew Walker website to see what the ingredients are:- Very finest spirits, vine fruits and seasonal spices, from Cider that’s brewed in Somerset to succulent sultanas and raisins from Turkey.Some other brands have slightly different ingredients, but these ones are fairly standard.I think it is definitely an acquired taste, either you like it or you don't like it. I love to top mine with nice warm Bird's custard, but you can also add fresh cream, condensed milk, brandy or rum sauce, or brandy butter.If you haven't tried it before, this is a good brand to buy. Their quality is very consistent and the taste is always great. I can't wait until Christmas so I can open this up!This size, 454g, normally does up about 4-6 servings, as you only need a really little bit.

It is very difficult to find authentic Christmas puddings similar to those we could buy in England when we lived there. In fact when we visited England several years ago I bought both a Fortnum and Mason and Harrod's puddings so that we could enjoy them for the next few years. I was prepared to try and make one this year until I discovered that they were available on Amazon. I hadn't heard of Mathew Walker's products before and decided to order this based on customer reviews. We all enjoyed it very much--it had just the right proportion of fruits, flour, spices, and there wasn't a strong brandy flavor like a lot of these puddings have. I served it with Bird's custard like I normally did in the past. A small portion is all that is necessary since it is very rich much like a fruitcake. I would definitely order another one next year. Again, Amazon delivers in a timely way, and the packaging always is protective of the products. A perfect Christmas dessert for those who want to experience a British tradition!

Great product. Reorder every christmas

The classic plum pudding is of excellent quality and tastes nearly as good as the luxury variety, especially when consumed with a generations old recipe, hard sauce.

So this was my first time trying Christmas pudding. It was very tasty a moist. 2 min in the microwave and a dollop of homemade hard sauce, delicious.

Was this the juiciest fruitiest Xmas pud I have ever eaten? No. That accolade goes to my mum's. BUT... for the USA and the price, I was very happy with this.

DELICIOUS and fresh Christmas Pudding that we enjoy every holiday season. We make our own hard sauce using an electric mixer using heart-healthy margarine at room temp and lots of powdered sugar, then smooth it out with either brandy or bourbon whisky. We did have a shipping situation this year which Online Stores Inc. rectified immediately, so all our future Mathew Walkers Classic Christmas Pudding purchases will be with this seller who's customer service we can trust. I can't say enough about this pudding which my husband says is very close to the real thing that his grandmother used to take several weeks to make and then ship to family members every year. Now that she's no longer with us, Mathew Walker fills the void most preciely. Shipping was fast. Will definately continue buying every holiday season in multiple tubs. ;)

Alcohol-free!!!! This wonderful pudding is dense, moist, chewy and marvelously hearty. The flavor and texture are perfect. I had never had a classic Christmas pudding because they are always soused -- drenched in alcohol! Well, this one has no alcohol at all. The taste and texture are outstanding. It is simply perfect. Top it as you will, there is no wrong way to enjoy this wonderful, wonderful pudding (cake to us Yankees!!!). I am delighted to recommend it. Only problem: I want more!
