Catcher's Thumb Guard

This is great! It keeps my daughter from hyperextending my thumb when I catch for her!

We installed this thumb guard inside my son's catcher's mitt permanently. It works well, and my son says it feels like it is doing a good job of protecting his thumb. I found that after I boiled it and molded it to his thumb (and the inside of his mitt) that it has held its shape well (it has been installed there for over a year now). My son is in high school and regularly receives pitches, as catcher, in excess of 90 mph (to give you an idea of the environment it is used in). We are going to get him a new backup mitt here shortly, and I am likely to buy another one of these for that mitt.

Was a gift for my son’s friend. He said he liked it. Fit fine and helped him with his catching.

I have coached youth baseball for 15 years. This product is junk!!! It will not mold around your thumb and the size and coverage is very minimal. It falls off the second you put it on. I am looking at other products, but I can tell you this one did not work for me at all. Do not waste your time or money. Not sure how this product got approval for production.

I don’t post many reviews, but I had to mention how great this guard is. I was in the batting cages today and caught a 70+ mph pitch wrong and it blew out my thumb. Now, I still sprained my thumb, but I’m convinced without this guard, I would have torn some ligaments! It could have been a much worse outcome without it. I’ll always catch with this in my glove!

Performed as expected, but a bit bulky to insert into the mitt unless you loosen the ties somewhat. UPDATE: Just couldn't make it work so that glove and shield worked comfortably - not in use for now.

My son plays catcher on his baseball team, and he's hypermobile. This clever little brace helps prevent his thumb from being forced back too far while he's catching. I think we'll probably buy this again.

The guard was easy to fit as explained but even though we had wrapped it tight the edges are not as snug as I was expecting. Also very tough to fit in some gloves. I purchased for catching but it won't fit the mitt I have, it's too thick. If it does fit your glove, then it does a good job.

In addition to the guard not forming properly, my hand couldn't fit into my mitt while wearing this. This is the second time I bought this and both times the same problem occurred. Honestly save your money and choose other guards, there are better ones on the market
