Solid wood, well finished, and ridiculously easy to assemble. Two bolts per leg, one knob and done. It seriously took me twice as long to unpack the thing and recycle the packaging than to set it up. I will say the directions were not printed clearly but you won't need them.In fact, let me save you some time and squinting: Position the legs with the screws through the holes in the table (they can go only one way), put on the big washer (the round flat thingy), put on the lock washer (the small ring thingy that is split), then put on the nut and tighten with the provided tool (righty tighty, lefty loosey). The drawer knob I leave for you as a bonus challenge. Then you're done. It is very sturdy and heavy. It's a good medium to dark brown color, not reddish or yellowish brown. It was packaged very well and was very easy to assemble. I shopped around a lot and saw this same desk under different brand names for a lot more money at other online stores, but this one was the best deal. I liked the manufacturer's information about where the wood comes from. My desk did not come with any plastic feet on the bottom of the legs, so I added the stick-on felt pads to protect my floor. Great product at a great price. Searched all over and finally settled on this one, it was just the size I was looking for. It is a very nice desk, easy to assemble, sturdy and looks nice. I am docking it a star for three reasons. First there were scuff marks on three of the legs, not a big deal, I put the worst two in the back. Second there is a dime sized divot on the surface of the table, this is a bigger deal to me because now I will always have to be conscious of this indentation when writing or sketching on the desk.
