Is this good for a car tracker

Hi, think I'm looking for the same thing IE. A SIM for a car tracker that I don't have to top up every month - just use the initial credit remaining after the first month "inclusive plan" has expired..... Maybe an occasional text to make sure it's working or to keep it active every 3 months or so. I can't really get a definitve answer online whether or not you have to top up monthly with all of the regular mobile companies to keep the number active or whether remaining credit from the first month can be used at standard rates (which would suit best, even if you have to make periodic "chargeable" calls to keep it active). I would be interested to know what you ended up doing, how you find it and what combination of sim/tracker you used? Many thanks!

Do you have to keep topping up or can you use it as an incoming sim in Italy ?

I would say you can't just use it for incoming calls as you would have to pay an incoming roaming fee so would need credit. but you could pick the lowest rate just to keep the phone active

Can you choose the unlimeted plan with the card?

Smarty SIM cards

Didn't work for me as they seemingly need to be pre-registered with Smarty (which these aren't). Neither card would register correctly, so I ended up getting a sim direct from Smarty, which registered without problem.

30GB option is great!

Good value - I took the 30gb option. The network wasn't as fast as I would like. Tested it with Meteor and Ookla. Same phone with Three SIM was faster.

Need online activation, cannot be used straight away, not great for when you need to make a phone call. Avoid!

I've given two stars despite it not working, as I've found out that you've got to activate it by going online filling in your details and picking a plan, which I was wanting to avoid in the first place and kind of invalidates the use of a PAYG sim 🙄I want to know if I can get a signal first? What's the point of signing up for a contract or putting cash on an activated sim only to find you can't get a signal or its very poor. Should be able to buy a pre loaded sim to try out first, but no networks seem to offer this! If you know you can get a good reception from them then go for it as they've some great plans plus money back from data you've not used 😀
