Cast Iron Grate (J18)

We have three fireplaces and the smallest one is in the sunroom. This was the perfect size. We have definitely found that you need heavy duty. We have only had two fires in this so I will update after the winter. Seems well-made heavy heavy duty

Had for 2 winters now and its still in great shape

I've only been using it for a couple weeks so I cannot speak to durability. But, it works well for airflow and is very sturdy.

Good product. Size is as advertised. Have only used it once, but it’s heavy duty and I don’t doubt that it will last for a long time.

It's not easy for me to move so I clean around it pushing it to the side to clean out the ashes. Much more sturdier than the Home Depot version. The Home Depot one bend out of shape and after a couple years broke down in the middle grading. This new one is thick.

Received this almost overnight. Very solid and heavy. Fit perfectly. So far it's great.

My old black iron fireplace grates had a bad habit of melting. They would get cherry red in the center and droop down to the floor of the fireplace. I remembered as a child, that my folks had a cast iron pot-bellied stove in the basement and while it would get cherry red during those long ago Minnesota winters, it never melted.I'm in Louisiana now , but we get some cold weather and so far, this grate has been perfect. I expect many more years of service out of it. At 70 years of age, I consider this a life-time grate!

The grate is only 17" not 18" as advertised - - see photo below.
