Identify staple like fasteners On the inside of the tube using a screwdriver or needle nose pliers bend the staples back out from tube—continue it do this to ALL staples. Then go to the outside and pull or pry the staples all the way out. I used to sell commercial fitness equipment and rehab equipment, and also managed a few fitness equipment stores in the local area. I’ve also been weight training for about 40 years. I’ve seen bars made in Sweden all the way to China and US (some were great, some barely passable as fitness equipment). This is a winner. The bronze bushings in this bar are very smooth, which is important if you’re lifting heavier weights. It also illuminates the squeaking that you get when using the bar. The finish is nice and doesn’t appear to be chrome plated on, which always flakes off after a few uses. The knurling is good and deep. Last, the bar’s ends have tightly machined grooves on them which helps prevent the Weights from sliding off if you are not using collars. Lastly, the bar arrived in bulletproof cardboard tubing with hard rubber ends that were screwed in with four wood screws. Even after taking the screws out I had to get a screwdriver and hammer to knock the ends off. I appreciate things that are well packed. I didn’t weigh the bar, I’ll go with the 19 pounds as quoted in the literature. I rounded up for my son to 20 pounds.
