Horrible Histories: Season 1-5

Love this series! I'm in America, so the show wasn't publicly available here. But I started catching clips from it on Youtube a couple of years ago, and would watch them all over and over again. Eventually most were taken off the site, so I finally decided to get the DVD's myself (I have a region-free DVD, which you MUST have in order to view these DVD's), and it's incredible! The cast it talented, and presents all of these historical facts in funny skits and musical numbers which help you learn, without even realizing it. I mean, I now can know all the kings and queens of England, from William the Conquerer to Elizabeth II, thanks to a clever song they sing in one episode. It's like any other song you love, where after you hear it a bunch of times you just memorize the lyrics, without even trying to! I highly recommend this.

Hilarious, Entertaining and Informative Brit series. Arrived without any problems and plays back fine. Glad I decided to take the dive and order the box set! Cheers!

My husband & I just love the Horrible Histories Series. It's a most entertaining way to learn fun historical facts. I would say the shows are aimed mostly at school aged children, so there's lots of blood, guts and poo! Having said that - it's all relevant lol. If you like History and or you want to get your kids interested in History, you should enjoy these!

The most remarkable talent I've seen since the 70's!Unfortunately, I thought I got ones to play in the U.S. but didn't. Had to rig up an old laptop to play them on. Inconvenient but didn't want the hassle of returning them and doing without

I love it. This is great fun. The delivery and quality of the product is good.

This is a wonderful series. It is fun for a wide variety of ages and still manages to teach history.

The box was perfect. The disk looked perfect..it came in perfect time. We started the series twice. The information of the stories is great. The actors do a great job. I gave it a 3 because it didn't hold our attention . I will try to start over and finish the season maybe it gets better.

I watched this on Hulu a while back, and was thoroughly entertained! Now that my kids are old enough to enjoy it, decided to buy it on DVD. These are fun, keep my kid's attention and teach them little known history facts. The only thing that bothers me is how they trivialize death... It's all upbeat and jokey, it seems a bit desensitizing to me. (Thus only 4 stars) I always have discussions with my kids afterwards about the death parts... I ordered this from a UK site on here, and it was delivered here in the US under 2 weeks! I knew I might have trouble watching this on my video player, but I was up for the challenge. I was going to designate one of my DVD players on my computer to region 2, but my computer wouldn't even recognize these in order to change the region. I ended up experimenting with an old, simple DVD player: figured out how to change the region on it, and now we have a designated Horrible Histories DVD player!

By far the best way to learn about history. Just keep in mind that they are region locked

Ideal para aprendizaje de inglés especialmente con subtítulos. Episodios cortos muy amenos y divertidísima forma de presentar la historia.. La BBC nunca defrauda.

Everybody should have this set in their house! So funny at times, pity the new series is not with this gang of actors.

Se amate la storia e avete senso dell'umorismo non potete lasciarvi scappare questa serie.Se credete che la storia sia solo una serie di fatti noiosi e libri polverosi, vi ricrederete!Horrible Histories, attraverso scene comiche e canzoni strampalate vi presenterà la storia come non l'avete mai vista.Consigliata a chi conosce l'inglese e vuole ridere e imparare qualcosa di nuovo.

... denn wer diese Serien-Perle der BBC auf einem Programmplatz Samstags von 9-10 Uhr versauern lässt, hätte solche Episoden verdient!Da hätte man vielleicht doch etwas Geld in die Hand nehmen können, um sie zu synchronisieren und so einem breiteren Publikum zugänglich zu machen. Schade!Die zehn DVDs sind- extrem unterhaltsam, da sie mit schwarzem britischem Humor gespickt sind- zum Teil so absurd, dass sie der Monty Python's Truppe würdig wären- auf Englisch ordentlich zu verstehen sind, wenn die Sprache schon über das Schul-Englisch hinausgeht- notfalls die englischen Untertitel eingeblendet werden könnenSelbst ich, der die Geschichtsstunden zum Gähnen lahngweilig gefunden habe, konnte noch einiges an Wissen abschöpfen, das meine Lehrer/innen nicht vermittelt hatten/konnten/wollten. Zudem hat es (ich gebe es zu) mir einen Heidenspaß gemacht, die Geschichtslücken durch Stöbern in Lexika bzw. dem Internet zu füllen.Fazit:Kurzweiliges, interessantes Infotainment!!!
