I am very glad we got this thermometer for cooking. We love to cook, grill steaks, beef and pork roasts, slabs and it is important to keep the center temperature to 155F or 68.3C (It is very easy to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius) . Another very important point is that we make a lot of fried food, mainly Japanese KaraAge (Fried Chicken) Tempura, AjiFurai (Fried Fish). Due to health issues we want to keep the oil temperature right (Cooking oils, when heated, may form trans fats.and when passed the smoke point of the oil, it can produce toxic compounds or carcinogens. So it is very important to maintain correct temperature)So this thermometer, will help you a lot in cooking and keeping you healthy as well. Your tempura right, your steaks tasty with a fantastic easy to use digital thermometer for meat. Trust me you can measure other stuff as well. I am not sure about the longevity as I have not used it for a long time but seem to have constructed well. I will update the review once I have used it for a while.

I have used a meat thermometer and a candy thermometer separate for a long time. Having this all in one is awesome. My candy thermometer was glass and I broke several. This is durable. I did not make candy with it but it will be very easy to use for that with the way it is made. My husband grilled just so we could use the thermometer for the chicken and it worked great. The meat was perfectly cooked. I did not submerge the entire thing in water however my hands were wet when I washed it and it did not hurt it at all. It was easy to clean. I am quite impressed and I am seriously considering buying my son one since he grills frequently.

This is an outstanding, 'must have' instant thermometer for anyone who grills. I have been using a Thermapen for a couple of years now but it has started to fail / provide inaccurate temp readings. Instead of spending $100 to replace it, I thought I would give this MUCH cheaper option a try. So far, I have been thrilled with the results. The temp reading is accurate and fast. It's smaller and lighter than the Thermapen and best of all, the LED screen is backlit making it very easy to read when grilling in the evenings. I also like that there is a hole built into the design so I can hang it on the side of the grill when not using. I plan to purchase several more of these to give as gifts to my grilling friends. Highly recommend..!

Wow! Ok...so...i have been using one of those old dial thermometers and wanted to upgrade. I chose this one because, well, the price was amazing and cheap. I didn't know what I was going to get for the price...What I got was quality....ease...and...i just plain love this thing!!!! I love to cook, bake, bbq and make my homemade candies. This thermometer is accurate, easy to read, super fast, and super easy to clean. Plus it folds up so the point isn't dangerous. Plus the packaging was really nice.If you are a cook of any kind...this is the one. Makes a great gift too!!! I'm definitely buying one for my father in law who loves to bbq!!!!

Edited review:The company sent me a brand new thermometer after seeing the negative review! Great customer service, and so far the new one works perfectly.This seemed like a great bargain until the battery died at six months. It then worked for about two days after replacing the battery...I'll be buying a different brand now.

Love this product the quick read allowed me to move from chicken breast to chicken breast to check doneness. I was able to test 30 of them without feeling the heat of the grill. It also has a great hold temp feature for use in seeing the high temp when you are probing around large meats as they smoke. This product makes for a great quick read thermometer. Would but it again.

I made NY Strips last night and they turned out fantastic! Perfectly cooked with this tool. I like the look of this and the easy clean and fold in storage. It’s a great addition to my kitchen. I’m looking forward to using it when we next roast a turkey. Hoping it will be the key to a delicious bird.

Love the price, love the ease of use, love the backlit display. However, the touch display is very sensitive and becomes more of a nuisance for pros who want information quickly. I always notice that it turns itself on while in my shirt or apron pockets. I like the Javelin brand a little better.
