I bought this Ibera seat pole mounted cargo carrier along with the matching Ibera cargo bag which are both impeccably made. Excellent high quality all around. I wanted a seat post mounted carrier because I have quick release wheels on my Bianchi commuter bike and didn't want to have any attachments down at the wheels. I also wanted to be able to (relatively) quickly be able to detach the carrier when I wasn't carrying a load. Because the carrier clocks in at 1.8 pounds and the matching custom bag is also built like a tank, this is not a super light addition on your rear end. But one of the beautiful things about this combo is the ease with which the bag secures and detaches from the carrier. No need for any bunji cords or tie downs: click, click and it's done. Great design! So buying the matching bag with this carrier is THE justification for the carrier purchase. They work beautifully together. (Make sure you get the correct matching bag for this model carrier, because Ibera makes a smaller bag for a different model carrier and I don't think it will fit this carrier.) Installation is fairly simple, but be prepared; The carrier requires two metric Allen wrenches that are not supplied with the purchase (Do you hear this Ibera? You should include them.) I believe they are a 5mm for the seat post attachment and a 3 mm to slide the basket back and forth to your liking for clearance behind your seat. Easiest way to attach the carrier is to take out your seat post and slide the carrier on, then reattach you seat post, then tighten up the carrier. My slender seat post required the use of 1 of the 2 rubber shims supplied to get a tight solid fit. I tested my new rig out the other day. I packed 3 500ml bottles of water and 3 cans of cat food (I feed a stray along my route) along with wallet and keys, etc in a side pocket. It's 95 and bloody hot here in Nashville this time of year, so I always want more water than my single water bottle holder on my bike can accomodate. I also noticed that the well built Ibera bag is somewhat insulated, so I put some ice in a small ziplock bag and laid that on top of the 3 bottles of water. 2 hours later the ice was still ice and the water was still very cold. This is very impressive and not a feature that Ibera mentions. But it's a very welcome freebie!. As I mentioned, the one downside to having a well made carrier on the back with a load is it throws off the balance of the bike. It's not so bad when you're moving, but when stopped the bike can get away from you unless you're used to it. I'm so used to having a very stripped down light bike that it took a little getting used to. But, really, what's the alternative? I used a backpack for a while, which solves the weight distribution problem, but it's way too hot and uncomfortable in the summer. Ibera makes a very fine product, the best. This is the Aston Martin of carriers and matching bags.

I bought this Ibera rack for my high school age son, after buying a sort of generic frame mounted bike rack at a local bike shop, that absolutely failed because there was no where on the frame to mount it to, it was impossible. I returned it then came home and spent alot of time looking online at various styles of racks, to decide on this one. His cargo need is for his overladen backpack, which weighed in at 11 + pounds. This is rated up to 22 pounds. The rack itself is beautiful, great quality, well made, nice clean lines, welds, and it's very lightweight. This rack came with two sizes of rubber shims for the inside of the rack clamp which easily fastens on with an screw that tightens with an allen wrench, to fit a variety of seat post sizes. His larger diameter MB seat post required using the thinner rubber shim. I moved his under seat reflector to the end of the rack, which has space to accommodate a rear light, as well. I liked the idea of being able to buy the commuter bag that fits it, tho we likely won't. I watched a YouTube demo/review of the bag and rack in use, to check it out. I bought this also because the photos here showed it mounted on a Giant Bike, which is what he has, I was able to see what it would look like in use, mounted. It did shift a little sideways in it's first use, but it likely just needs extra tightening. I liked the larger tubing portion of the rack that forms the outside rim of the rack deck area which seems as though it will help keep anything you place there, inside and centered. Attaching the backpack securely I think will be best achieved using a small nylon ratchet or tie down strap of some sort, maybe two; one length wise, another around the rack and backpack midsection. We tried a bungee which worked OK..but I'm leery of eye/face damage and flying bungee hooks. Might send for one of the bungee nets, and see if they work. Overall, I'm very satisfied, and he likes the look of this better than the trad bike rack with frame mount, too. Mom and Kid approved. In review honesty, he has only used it once, as the bungee we used was long and impractical. Getting a heavy laden pack OFF of the back, frees up a cyclist to enjoy the ride! The seller sent this out quickly as well, I love shopping from home:-)

Recently I bought two Mongoose mountain bikes for urban commuting for my wife and myself. Hers is the smaller model at 24" and mine is the larger at 26". Since the idea was to be able to use these for trips to work, the local markets, and general recreation in and around Minneapolis the idea was always to purchase a carrier to add to the bikes. This review is for my My Bike. I've also posted a review for my Wife's bike using the smaller (but similar) IB-RA6. The challenge though is that like many mountain-bike designs, the Mongoose's have an independent rear suspension. While great for potholes, cobblestones, curbs and posteriors; having one precludes any ability to mount a more classic style bike rack with supports attaching to the real wheel hub. These single-post units by Ibera solve the problem perfectly by mounting only to the seat post frame (or to the seat post downtube itself). Originally I purchased the IB-RA6, as it was somewhat less expensive and since I had bikes of two different sizes to mount racks on, I wanted to see fit/finish on the smaller bike first. This proved to be a good move as while the IB-RA6 was a perfect fit on my Wife's 24" Mongoose, it proved to be just a bit small on the larger frame of my 26" model. For those that have bikes in the 26-28" size range the additional frame length and adjustable rack placement of this model (IB-RA1) will likely make for a more pleasant install experience and justifies the higher expense. Mounting the unit on my bicycle proved to be a slight challenge as clamping the rack to the Bike's Seat Downtube didn't provide enough clearance between the rack's horizontal rack tube and the travel of the independently-suspended rear-wheel. However the seat post itself on the Mongoose Bike was just a bit too small (at 28.8mm) for the clamp to securely tighten. Ibera does provide two rubber "shims" to accommodate smaller posts and while they work, I personally found the solution unsatisfactory as even fully tightened the rack would "flex" enough during travel (and especially when loaded with a bag or items of 10lbs or more) that it would strike the rear wheel during wheel travel and/or move out of alignment. I solved this problem by ordering a T6 Aluminum Frame Shim (the one I ordered is here - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UWJSOE/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -, but if you choose to go this route you would need to measure and order appropriately for your own bike) and this solved the issue perfectly, allowing me to clamp the rack to the seat post at the exact right height for my needs. Once mounted in this manner, the rack is exceptionally stiff and has virtually zero flex. While rated for a 22lb load, I have no doubt it could probably accommodate a bit more when secured in this manner. And since it only mounts to the seat post/downtube, there is no interference with the real-wheel independent suspension (provided one mounts the rack high enough not to interfere with the travel of the rear wheel, in this case it was about 5" between the horizontal rack tube and the tire). As for the unit's construction, the rack itself it almost completely constructed of high-strength aluminum and looks like it could very well outlast the bike. The only area of possible concern are the small orange trim clips on the rack itself. While the plastic seems to be of high-enough quality, I will be curious as to how well they hold up over a life of having the Ibera Bike Bag (IB-BA14) snapped and unsnapped from the rack on a regular basis. Overall this is a great solution for our needs and I'd recommend that anyone with a similar challenge give this rack a look.

I purchased this to use with the Ibera PakRak touring carrier. I formerly was using the Ibera PakRak Bicycle Touring Carrier Plus+, but it was big and bulky, and one of the frame bolt holes was stripped, so I thought this new carrier could solve my problem. This is easy to mount (one hex screw). Without additional support, I was concerned that it would not be stable, or hold the weight of a fully loaded commuter bag. I discovered that there are two mounting holes near the front of the rack (closest to the bicycle seat). I re-used the two brackets from the larger carrier to support the new rack better, and to prevent sway. With these extra supports, the rack is solid, stable, and strong! I don't know why Ibera does not supply these brackets, but they make this product completely reliable! The aluminum bracket is a bit short, so I ended up having to move my seat forward about an inch. If the bracket was longer by and inch or so, and included the extra two support brackets, I'd easily give this five stars! Recommended!

I have a Diamondback Response mountain bike. It's not the greatest mountain bike in the world, but for me it really does get the job done. Over the last few years when I ride it I've typically taken a backpack with me. The backpack has room in it for a CamelBak bladder for water and then room for my car keys, a small tool kit, and other items. The thing is, I don't really like riding with the backpack on. I've ridden with JUST the CamelBak in a dedicated CamelBak pack, and it's not nearly as heavy or cumbersome as the backpack is. I decided I'd look for a rack to put on the back of the bike that could be used with a pack so that the bike would be doing the carrying. Sure, I'm still pedaling the thing, but at least it's not supported on my back any longer. I found the Ibera Commuter pack while browsing Amazon, and liked it right away. I had already been looking at an Ibera rear rack for my Kent Dual Drive Tandem, and I liked that both of these can use the Ibera pack to mount to the rack without any bungie cords or other tie downs. The rack came quickly, as is always the case with Amazon. I installed it on the Response's seat post very quickly. It only took one tool and a few minutes to get the rack installed. It does come with some rubber pieces to put between the rack mount and your seat post so that it doesn't scratch or mar the seat post. I figured the rubber would also act as a bit of a non-slip type of material, so I used the thin one. Installation is really easy, and the way it's designed would allow for the rack to fit a variety of seat post sizes. Once I got it installed, I realized it was crooked...so I took it off and adjusted it. After a few minutes it was nice and straight, and in a good position on the bike. I really like the way it looks. Very stylish on the back of a mountain bike. For carrying things for now, I've just been strapping a backpack down to it. I will be ordering one of the Ibera packs soon, and I will use that on both of my bikes and just switch it from one to the other. I have even been experimenting with a longer tube on my CamelBak and having it actually inside of the pack on the rear rack. So far, it's been working pretty well...so I may end up not even needing to have the CamelBak on my body any longer, which would be great. I like this rack so much I'll probably end up getting one to go on my roadbike as well, so that I can have all of my bikes capable of using the same luggage bag. Highly recommended.

I use it to haul my jambox on the exercise fixie and can move it in 30 seconds to the cruiser to listen to great bluetooth stereo on the bike !! Not a cheap, flimsy unit. upside - Allen wrench secures it on bike so it's locked on to seat post downside - it's not the instant clamp-on type and requires the common medium-sized Allen wrench tool (middle Allen wrench of the Y one sold be most good bike shops - same as handle bars or seat post allen on my elctras). It looks pretty cool for a bike rack. has holes on back to attach LED light, christmas lights, reflectors. I mounted my regular-universal detachable bike "trunk" to hold wallet/keys/pump/radio/etc and it fits better on here than the factory electra rack because of the extra openings. The powder coated, cast aluminum rack is very rigid - it's more stout than the bike frame and ultra light. I suppose you could replace the stainless allen mount bolt with a twistie head bolt and make it a no-tool disconnect if needed. fits on a variety of seat posts for me - 1973 Raleigh steel, 2005 Electra steel, and 2011 Electra aluminum, 2012 Trek MTB. it's a keeper and like half the shop price here. Go for it.

I have a Ride1Up Prodigy XC Electric Bike, and I contacted their customer service to ask about rack options and they pointed me to this one. On their recommendation I bought it plus the bag that locks into this, and it fits like it was made for it. The design is top notch, it is sturdy and solid, while still being sleek and functional. The bag is great quality as well, though it is nice to have them be two separate pieces in case you want to strap something to the rack other than the bag. The ONLY quibble I have with it is that the rack can be pushed fairly easily off center, but then it can be pushed back too, so it's not any kind of real issue.

I also purchased several Raks that mount onto the seat post. Excellent design. The modular safe installation of the bag makes it very practical to clip on your bag onto different racks made by Ibera for this bag. I went to Ibera's web page and there is no support for parts that are coming apart from the raks. Namely, the orange reflective rings (4 per rak) that allow you to see in the dark where to mount your bag. These rings fall off and I have been trying to get them replaced, however there is not contact from Ibera. All they say is: CONTACT THE SELLER. I thought there was a better warranty and I will read again the next time I purchase from Ibera. They are not cheap bags, and I expected a level of support for something to inexpensive as these orange colored rings. 3 stars only. Good product, non-existent warranty or support. Thanks to Amazon, I will find a solution.
