I've been playing bass guitar for forty years, this brand has always been my go to strings. They last for years, hold tune, very good value, and sound better than my playing.

Finding the perfect string seems like a lifetime process. I prefer roundwounds on my Precision bass since I don't play Motown style, but at the same time I didn't want anything that was too bright or raspy. I've found some roundwounds (especially the ones with a round core) have a raspy high-end to them that never seems to go away. I had been using the DR Pure Blues but decided to go with the D'Addario hex core rounds because I know that hex cores are mellower sounding. I have tried the DR LO-Riders, but they were just a little too mellow for me, and also too stiff. These D'Addario medium lights are livelier sounding and bright but without the raspiness of the DR Pure Blues. Another thing I like about these strings is that while they are hex core, they don't have the stiffness or high tension you would expect with a hex core. They are very comfortable on the fingers. It's funny. When I first started playing the bass I used D'Addario flatwounds, and now after trying almost every string in the book, I've gone full circle back to the D'Addarios. I think they really are a superior string.

Have used the bass strings in the past and really liked them. I have had some flat wound strings on my bass for some time, and kinda got tired of the dead sound they have. The round wounds have a much brighter sound. I have had good luck with D'Addario strings on both bass and acoustic guitars. These bass strings are on the light end and are great to play on. As light gauge as they are, they still have a great sustain to them. Would recommend!

I've spent an uncomfortable amount of money on bass strings in the attempt to find the perfect set for me. Of course, the assessment of what is best depends on which bass I'm putting these on, but the quality of these strings is truly top notch in any application. I have them now on my 1976 Rickenbacker 4001 (EXL 170 set) and I don't think I'll need to search any further. They provide the perfect balance of tension (in fact, D'Addario gives you all the tension specs... if that helps you) and contribute faithfully to the distinct Ric sound that one would expect from these basses. Of all the Nickel plated strings I have tested, these are by far the brightest. They produce excellent high/mid-high tones without the excessive "clangyness" that some steel strings can exhibit. The low-end punch isn't left out either. You also get the benefit of the softer feel of nickel on your fingers, and they're a bit easier on the frets. Give these a try! You won't be disappointed.

I've been a long time user of D'Addario guitar strings and will continue to be. These felt and sounded terrific as soon as I put them on my bass. One of the things I like most about D'Aaddario strings is that they last a long time. And even though I mostly play 6 string lead guitar, and I do a lot of aggressive string bending, they have not broken on me either. That's less of a problem/concern for bass playing but it says a lot about the quality and reliabilty of D'Addario products. If this sounds like an ad, I guess I can't help that--I really call it as it is.
