Size:1 This Pentek 150467 20-BB 3/4" #20 Big Blue filter housing with pressure relief is suitable for high-flow and heavy sediment applications. The opaque blue sump is made of reinforced polypropylene for strength and resistance to chemicals, and the black cap is made of high-flow polypropylene (HFPP) for stiffness. The cap has 1" female National Pipe Thread Taper (NPT) threaded input and output connections and a nitrile butadiene rubber (Buna-N) O-ring to ensure a watertight seal. A pressure relief button on the inlet side of the cap releases pressure in the housing for changing filter cartridges. The housing can be used with a 20” x 4-1/2" filter cartridge (sold separately). It has an initial pressure drop of 2 pounds per square inch (psi) at a flow rate of 15 gallons per minute (gpm), a maximum operating pressure of 90 psi, and a maximum operating temperature of 100 degrees F (37.8 degrees C). This filter housing meets National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) standard 42 for quality assurance, and is for use in various high-flow applications, including residential drinking water filtration, food service, and irrigation, among others.Specifications Filter cartridge size (H x W) (sold separately) 20 x 4-1/2 inches (508 x 114 mm) Initial pressure drop at 15 gpm 2 psi Maximum temperature 100 degrees F (37.8 degrees C) Maximum pressure 90 psi Maximum dimensions (H x W) 23-3/8 x 7-1/4 inches (594 x 184 mm) Materials and structural integrity certification NSF/ANSI standard 42H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Water filters remove undesirable particles, chemicals, and microorganisms from water by means of a semipermeable barrier, adsorption, or biological processes. They are made of densely packed synthetic or natural fibers that trap suspended particles, materials that block microbes or adsorb unwanted chemicals, or substances that cause a chemical change, such as acid neutralization. For most residential, commercial, and industrial applications, water filters are manufactured in the form of replaceable cartridges that fit inside permanent housings. Filtration systems typically consist of a series of two or more types of filters, each designed to remove different contaminants. The performance of filters is measured by the minimum particle size that is blocked, the percentage of particles or microorganisms that are removed, the downstream concentration of unwanted chemicals, the maximum flow rate, and the amount of water that can be filtered before the filter must be replaced. Water filters are used in a wide range of applications, including drinking water purification, swimming pools, industrial processes, and irrigation, among others.Pentair manufactures industrial, commercial, and residential water filtration components and systems. The company, founded in 1966 and headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards 9001 and 14001 for quality assurance.

So far works great!
I purchased a home with an undersized (2 7/8) whole home water filter. My well water is pretty good, but it has sediment, iron flakes, and has a slight sulfur dioxide smell. I was using 2um carbon filter from WM or HD for about $5 each, but they would clog up in ~2.5 - 4 weeks. I decided to upgrade and install a Dual BB system with a sediment pre-filter and a carbon block main with pressure gauges in between to judge filter life. Based on the smaller filter's performance I think sediment is my larger problem, because it tended to clog prior to the carbon's ability to remove the SO2.I went with a the Pentek R30-20BB Pleated Polyester Filter, because it is supposed to be reusable with a quick rinse. I haven't had to rinse it yet so I can't say how well it works after rinsing. There were many complaints that the Pentek EP-20BB Carbon Block Filter reduced system pressure by ~5 PSI. My pressure tank runs between 50 psi to 32 psi and to be honest I don't notice the pressure drop at all. My well pump is rather quick and only takes ~30s to raise the pressure back to 50psi. I suspect that's masking the filter concerns others had.The installation was pretty straight forward. I'd recommend MAP over propane for soldering as I could finish a joint with ~15s of heat. I would also highly recommend a good heat shield. I had to solder some joints next to drywall and my heat shield was able to withstand all that heat without transferring any of it to the drywall. It wasn't even warm.My only complaint is that the filter housing doesn't include a wrench. I was able to hand tighten them, but I'm sure I'll need a wrench to unscrew them. I also had to order a third filter housing as one of the original ones had broken tabs which hold the filter. The return and refund process was easy and quick. No complaints there.Hardware List from Amazon:(2) Pentek 150467 20-BB 3/4" Big Blue Filter Housing with Pressure Relief(2) Watts Housing Bracket for Big blue 10" and 20" filter housings(1) Pentek R30-20BB Pleated Polyester Filter Cartridge, 20" x 4-1/2", 30...(1) Pentek EP-20BB Carbon Block Filter Cartridge, 20" x 4-5/8", 5 Microns(3) Simmons 100PSI PRESSURE GAUGE(2) Homewerks 119-4-34-34 No-Lead Full Port Ball Valve with Drain with 1/4-Turn...Hardware List from Local:3/4 pipe, flux, solder, heat shield, MAP torch, fittings, 5/16" x 1 1/2" lag bolts, washers, etc..3 month update:Everything is still working great. At 3 months I haven't noticed any pressure drops due to filter clog, but we've started to notice some SO2 smell in the water. I pulled the pre-filter and washed it off. The tank had sediment in it and it was clear the filter was doing it's job. I pulled the carbon filter and I was surprised by how clean the tank and filter are. I couldn't see any sediment in the tank or on the filter. I decided to rinse it just because it was out.My plan is to keep using the carbon block until the SO2 becomes too bad to bear. I think the pre-filter still has another 6 months in it before I have to rinse it again.

Good product, poor packaging from the manufacturer
Good product, poor packaging from the manufacturer. I purchased three, one canister came with a crushed O-Ring. It had been screwed on while the O-ring was improperly seated, and put a large dimple in the O-Ring. So I had to buy another one...I also bought three mounting brackets...Neither the mounting brackets OR the filter canisters came with the screws to mount the brackets to the canisters.Nothing a trip to the local hardware store won't fix, just really annoyed on the screws.

Good quality! Easy to install.
This installed in about 20 minutes using sharkbite fittings on our existing pex plumbing lines. Be sure to buy the bracket and filter wrench as they are not included with this. Extra O-rings and some o-ring silicone are good ideas in case it breaks during filter changes. The housing is a very hard and heavy type of reinforced plastic. The kind of heft that does not make me wonder if it would burst when I was not home. The only thing that could use improvement is the filter centering ring in the bottom of the housing could be taller for better filter centering. This unit is large but after 1 month I changed the filter and it was packed with dirt so the extra surface area of a filter this size is a must. It could have been used another month most likely.I chose Pentek because they are a manufacturer with a public presence on the web so there is some manufacturing accountability unlike a lot of generic plumbing products.Good value

Sediment gone and water radon reduced!
I recently moved into a newly constructed home. I had mild to moderate sediment and a water radon level of 4.9. I installed a Big Blue 10 with a sediment filter (DGD-5005) and a Big Blue 20 with a GAC filter (GAC 20BB). The sediment immediately cleared up. I had my water radon tested six weeks later and the result was 2.5. My water tastes great and I saved a lot of money bringing my water radon level down this way rather than having it professionally mitigated. My total cost was less than $200; plumber friend did the install for free.Additional notes: Make sure you order the housing bracket, filter wrenches, and lag screws to attach the housing to the bracket and the bracket to a board. Also a good idea to order a spare O-ring. Another good idea is to lube the sump threads to a plumbers lubricant. You can get the plumber's lubricant and lag screws at homedepot, lowes or any hardware store.

Durable and well made
Everything fit and worked as it should. Bought separate brackets. Bolts not included which is ok, but they should list recommended size so you can round them up before starting to install. Installed with a 1 micron graded filter and makes a big differece on the mineral spots we were struggling to control. Buy this one, not the cheap ones and you'll be happy.

Doesn’t ship with brackets or bolts for the brackets to hold the housing.
Good product but didn’t come with brackets or bolts to hold the filter housing to the bracket. For this kind of money it should. If you are considering a whole house filter system get a Home Master. It is a complete two stage assembly. NO fittings, bolts, brackets to buy and deal with. If I had to do it again that is what I would do instead of building the assembly myself.

Well made but no screws
The housing is substantial and very unlikely to break thereby flooding your house. It can be difficult to unscrew after 6 months of use but no more so than others of this design. It does not come with the mounting screws or information on which ones to uses. Someone designed the 4 holes atop the filter for a specific fastener, it would be nice if they told us what they are.

I wish there was a sight window too see the inside condition of the filter. I'll probably just replace it annually at my house. BIG filter
