A Kid In Aladdin's Court

A free on Amazon Prime non-Disney sequel to "A Kid in King Arthur's Court"
This movie was made in 1997. It's a sequel to "A Kid in King Arthur's Court" a 1995 Disney movie. The reason I'm telling you this is because this movie while it is a sequel has nothing to do with the Disney Company. This movie does suffer in comparison to the original, but I still liked it.Thomas Ian Nicholas once again is Calvin Fuller. This time he is a bit older but not especially wiser than he was in the 1st movie. I guess the lessons he learned in the 1st movie didn't really take hold or life just beat him down. He has a job in a local pizza place but still lacks confidence in himself. He starts the movie by lying to a hot girl he likes to get her to go to a high school dance with him. He told her he owned an expensive car that's parked in front of the store. While cleaning up to go to the dance he rubs a lamp and summons the genie. The genie tells him his destiny is to be the "Deliverer" that an ancient prophecy speaks of. And once again despite his objections finds himself sent back in time. And the movie goes on from there until the conclusion. Which is fairly predictable. You really don't have to have seen the original to get this movie. Although it does mention it in passing to set up this movie. When you consider this movie is going on 18 years old the special effects aren't that bad. Although, not as good as Disney's would have been. The technology used in the movie is dated but it was 1997 so you can't find fault there. The movie does venture into the just plain silly at times. And the battery life of Calvin's laptop is phenomenal. The actors were ok. They didn't win an Oscar for this movie. But I've seen far worse. This movie was Free with an Amazon Prime subscription. So I saw it by streaming the movie.

Classic (predictable) and GREAT for Small Boys!
(from a 6 year old's perspective:)Bad Guys in Black - Good guys in White....cool special effects & a princess to fall in love with...."The kid" is totally the hero of the flick, and my 6 year old son and friend were completely enthralled....soooo much is targeted toward girls (princess bride/bratz/powder puff girls/kim possible, etc) that it is NICE to find Traditional Hero Movies that my son can dig his teeth into.....inspired by this one, we bought the "arthur's court", and am guessing it will be even better....am sorry this was the end of the series...Bottom Line: 6-8 year old boys will LOVE this movie...
