Some of the other blocks sold on Amazon have complaints about the paint chipping. Are these safe?

I have yet to have a problem with them, they are used mainly on carpet or wood flooring. I also gave one as a gift and have received no complaints about the paint chipping either.

I noticed two different block sizes in the pictures; what size are they? 1" or 1.75"? Thanks!

The blocks are 1.75 inch cubes. A much better size for my 20 month old to stack and recognize the drawings.

Can you spell out "Emmett" with these blocks and if so would they have different colors?

These are the best wooden blocks I purchased... But no It wouldn’t spell Emmett. the double letters that you get are A, C, E, I, O, T... so you wouldn’t have the extra M that you need :(

Are these blocks embossed or just painted?

It's both. The front and back of each cube will have a painted raised letter and raised number. The side pictures (animals, objects and numbers) are flat on 3 sides of the cube but they included an embossed picture on the 4th side (on some cubes).
