The Lena Baker Story

I had heard about this horrendous story and was anxious to watch the movie. I'm sorry to say that it could have been better acted. The DVD arrived in great condition and in a timely manner

Racism raw... Crippling display of that horrible Jim Crow era..and the egregious white supremacy tactics that guided MANY African Americans in the direction of gloom and the history of lies of the colonizing majority... Please watch..white people need to watch the past aggressions of their culture that keeps them protected civilly and capitalism..protecting them from racist stereotyping profiling marginalizing that they systemically institutionalized purposely and what they did to the civility of blacks for 375 yrs and the marginalizing behavior toward other POC in a frenzy to substantiate themselves as supreme.. Everyone should see what America shamelesslyallowed..and Lena Baker was disparagingly victim to.

Being born and raised in South Georgia I have always been interested in this great misscarriage of justice. I live about 40 miles from the town where this happened. When I learned about the saga of Lena Baker I went to the Library and looked this up. I could never understand how a white man could go to Lenas' house abduct her at gunpoint and nothing could be done. As I grew older and wiser I learned why nothing was done. Simply by the color of her skin.The movie makes every thing clear. Watch the movie and you will be enlightened of how things were in Georgia durings the 40's 50's and 60's and beyond!

This drew every piece of emotion out of me...anger, devastation, hurt, empathy. This woman did not have a chance. The entire town knew what she had been experiencing, but turned the other way simply because she was Black and her tormentor was White. An outrage.We have many challenging issues as Black women now, but, after seeing this, I clearly see that we were in a worse position then. Unable to advocate for yourself. A town not wanting to advocate for you because of COLOR. Sigh...

I had been researching Lena Baker for months and was happy to see that there was a movie about her. Overall, it was a pretty good movie, very straight to the point. I wish the acting was a little stronger from all the characters and I wish that they would have dug into her history more. They kind of brushed over her out of wedlock children, absentee father, etc. Overall not great but good.

When a movie is good, it's just entertaining. When a movie is educational & informative, it's great. This movie is all three. Well worth the time spent. Of course it's a sad story of a terrible injustice, but I couldn't help but chuckle when the trial began & the "Judge" says, "As you can see, we have a seated jury of your peers," & the camera pans over the "jury of Ms. Baker's peers" - a group of white people with hatred & contempt on their faces.Her pardon 60 years later?? Too little too late.

first of all I was on a website that had a full movie about this person Lena Baker. I didn't know such movie existed until I saw clips of it and most of all I love true story movies. to be honest I have not watched it yet but from the clips I saw I became interested in buying it. thanks so much to the seller who had this true story and thanks to amazon for having it on its site to buy

Boroght this Lena Baker DVD on the cheap, I decided to purchase as I felt my black history was a little emaciated. Well I can see why many would not choose to watch this. It is a simple, low budget drama but with big buget story telling. All actors did very well; even Mr. Rooker (Sherrif). There is a lot of spiritual symbolism in this movie if your spiritually minded. I really enjoyed this tear jerker and will definately watch again and again - and recommend to interested friends.Terrible time in America's history - one ruling classes should be ashamed of.

Heart rending and deeply disturbing film and I guess that is mainly so because it's a true story. Plot quite difficult to follow at times but for the last hour you need a very large box of Kleenex. Not a story I would want to watch again but well produced.

As this is based on true life events it makes the film even more poignant a horrendous story but leaves the viewer with sympathy all around except for the authorities

We love this film , so when it arrived , we got comfy to watch it , it was just about watchable , very poor quality film , won't order no more from here ,

Gut moving film cried all way through
