Does it work with the sandisk extreme pro ssd?

I really doubt it. Unless the sandisk extreme pro has a width / height very very close to the Samsung T5 and a usb-c connector right in the middle. However, Smallrig has an universal SSD mount.

Can i buy the older version? i really dislike how the new version mounts sideways and the usb cable sticks out.

can this mount directly on tripod mount with only one screw?

No, It does not have a female 1/4 20. You would need to mount to a cheese plate then onto a tripod.
