The New Real Book, Volume 2 (Key of C)

My daughter's music teacher wanted her to have this book in her collection, so I found it on Amazon, bought it and it turned out to be a perfect purchase. Buying good used books are good; they are reasonably priced and who cares if they have been slightly used! Thank you!

Anything published by Chuck Sher is worth more than you pay for it, in my experience. This book is more "Adventurous' and songs are more complete than with other "Fake" books. The Sher publications should be the standard musicians use, rather than the other fake books out there.

Very useful for learning the heads to common tunes. PDFs are circulating, but the books are more readable than printed sheets from the PDFs and more importantly, a portion of the book price goes to the song writers. I don't want to be just another person screwing the songwriters. HOWEVER, there is a newer edition with more tunes. Today I was looking for Billie's Bounce and Yardbird Suite. Those and other important tunes are missing from this edition. Find the latest.

Sher has done a wonderful job of publishing tunes with the correct changes. Original as well as alternate changes are provided in easy to read, full page format. This is a big help for people like myself who have trouble reading small print. The spiral binding of the book allows for easy turning of the pages.

I love these "New Real Books" by Chuck Sher. Very high quality and excellent selection of tunes.

Of course there are some good things, but too much time and paper is wasted printing bass and drum arrangements for songs that nobody will recognize in the first place. My advice: just get "The Real Book" that this was designed to replace.

Many good songs, but stupid system for chord notation.

Contains excellent chord choices for several "must play" songs, especially "moments Notice".

I bought all the series: The New Real Book 1-3 by Sher Music Co. and the Real Book Vol. 1-6. Hoping that the "new" series would include swing songs that were not in Hal Leoanard's. Not so. (1) There is nothing new or what I'd like to play as a guitarist (2) The chord font is not very legible - should be thick like in The Real Book Volumes (3) there are obscure songs that hardly can be called "jazz tandards"Waste of money

Excellent layout and typeface. A very well thought out book with a great selection of songs. Every musician should have these series of books with the Jazz standards and contemporary songs. It's now my go to reference.
