Band Of Gypsys: Live At The Fillmore East [DVD] [2011]

Hendrix spent a large part of his brief 3 years at the top playing to his audience expectations-playing with his teeth,behind his back,gyrating around the stage and(most tiresome of all)playing continued requests for classic hits like 'purple haze','hey Joe' and voodoo chile etc.At the fillmore east he played it how he really wanted which meant(with a few odd exceptions) just standing still and playing his heart out and in the process playing the best set of his career.To add to this a majority of the songs were largely previously unheard gems.We are very lucky to be able to see this performance(allbeit in black and white with a rare occasional glitch) and should savour what i consider to be hendrix at his very best!
