For nearly 15+ years, the N1 Shinkanzen Master series is known as being slightly harder than others, and thus, the best to really drill yourself to make sure you pass the test the first go around. I like the vocabulary quizzes and fill in the blank style better than multiple choice because it does require more thinking and internalization of the vocabulary. However, I do wish it had sample sentences instead of just a table of new words to learn. The learner has to go to a dictionary to define the terms, make fuller example sentences, then do the exercises. In this regard, the Yoku Wakaru! Goukaku Text N1 - Goi is better because it provides more useful example sentences and a few drawings here and there to help with understanding. An opportunity for images is not always feasible, but there are several units that could have used them, such as the one of relationships on page 6. Review: Good
