Handy device
Sometimes a USB device needs to be remotely power cycled to get it working again and this fits the bill. Solid construction. Has other features engineers would like, such as measuring the USB voltage/current.

Great product and great support
We bought this hub to remotely control an expensive but buggy USB instrument which locked up completely at random times, and the only way to resurrect it was to switch off and on the USB power. It was pretty easy to do it manually using the supplied GUI utility, but we wanted to make the process fully automatic. Here came handy the API's for C, C++, and Python that the Acroname folks provided. At some point I stumbled upon a coding problem and opened a support ticket. In just under an hour (!) I received a reply - not from a typical "support doll" that sucks hours of your time while "elevating" an issue to a knowledgeable person, but right from a software engineer who, after a few iterations, helped to resolve the problem (thanks again, Mitch!). I was also very impressed to see that they provide software, in addition to Windows, for Mac and Linux; and for the latter, both 32- and 64-bit packages. I mean, _real_ 64 bits, not what some Big Names are doing with their so called "64 bit" Linux packages, which in essence are but thin wrappers around a bunch of i386 binaries shoved down your computer's throat. Note also that the sources of the GUI HubTool are open, so one may freely modify the utility to suite specific needs or just use it to learn how to program the hub (if you code in C++, that is). So - highly recommended!

Works great. Customer service is stellar
We have used both the 4 port and 8 port hubs from Acroname. Multiple purchases and repeat customer over several years. Does exactly what we want it to. Power control to individual USB devices for testing and use of other devices. The few times we have had any technical questions, their support team has been available, creative, and responsive. And the technical issues were mostly related to how we could use Acroname devices in ways no one had thought of. Finally their support team is also pleasant . I had looked at competitors and never found one that would meet the reliability standards we must have. So, Acroname it is.

Impressive unit
We use this in our manufacturing facility to reset a buggy USB device. It is a bit overkill for just this purpose but perhaps we can use some of the onboard programmability in the future. I also like the rugged housing and esd protection provided. This is leagues above any of the garbage USB hubs offered on amazon. I built the windows cmd example and it works great to reset the ports I need.
