This looks amazing on my daughter's bed. The velvet side is not very soft... but it looks amazing. The other side (the side you actually feel on your body when under the blanket) is very soft, not velvet at all. It is an actual comforter and it feels very cozy and lightweight but you can quickly become too warm if you are using another blanket with this or heavy sheets.
