how do you trim the wick someone says you must flatten it how is this done and do you need to do this first time you light it

To maintain an even but you may on occasion need to trim the wick, but this is not essential. You will not need to do this when you first receive the candle.

Does it come in a gift box

No, in a really well packed box. The candle has a wooden lid. We were very impressed with ours .

What is the chances of this arriving broken if i place a order?

I have ordered a few of these and also received some as gifts and never received a damaged one. Very well packaged.
