This traditional boat shoe boasts casual nautical flair that can be dressed up or down with confidence. Leather upper sports decorative side lacing, and the textured rubber sole allows easy navigation of any surface. Rockport has always been one step ahead of the times, believing the perfect shoe has not yet been invented. This positive dissatisfaction compels them to constantly improve upon their footwear. Founded in 1971, they were the first company to use advanced athletic technologies in casual shoes to achieve lightweight comfort, and the first company to engineer walking comfort in dress and casual shoes.

Shoe only has 1/2 of an insole...very uncomfortable.
This is an update to my earlier review. I returned the first pair and then also the replacement pair i received because they were uncomfortable and both pairs had only half of an insole. I am 74 years old, and in all my life and all the pairs of shoes I’ve ever worn, there has never been 1/2 of an insole. The front part of the shoe under the ball of your foot and your toes is just raw shoe bottom. I am still wearing the same style of Rockport shoes as these, that I bought 15 years ago, and they have a full insole and they have always been comfortable. I have no idea what Rockport has done to this latest manufacturing version, but it slips up and down on the heel being too loose, and the 1/2 insole construction is absolutely ridiculous. Very uncomfortable shoes.Previous Review:I don't know if the pair I got is defective or if Rockport makes them like this now. The inside of these shoes have only half of an insole...from the heel to the middle of the arch area. See the attached picture. There is no leather insole under your toes. I have never seen a pair of shoes like this in my life. I called Rockport 3 times over a 2 week period, trying to get them to do something for me, and their customer service did not respond. Finally, all they said was to return them to Amazon. Buyer beware. These are VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I couldn't keep them on my feet for longer than a minute. I am going to ask for a replacement pair assuming that this pair is defective and that they all are not made this way. I will update my review after I get them. I have worn MANY pairs of Rockport shoes over the years and have usually loved them...but these are pitiful.

Great boat shoes
Terrific boat shoes. Very well made with a strudy counter and heel seat. These replace a pair of mephistos that I had for many years and are just as good at one third the price. Mephistos are now made in Turkey and are just not the same quality as they used to be. Funny thing; I went to a Rockport store and they did not have these. The sales person said that this model is a year and a half old and only on line. I bought another style at the store, and while they are nice, this style I purchased on Amazon is a better shoe. I am very happy with this purchase

Excessive soul for narrow width buyers.
I was replacing a old pair of Sebago and since they are no longer available in narrow, I bought these. They have a lot stiffer soul than the Sebago, much stiffer than I prefer, but seem well built and should last along time. My biggest complaint is that the soul is much wider than the upper itself. I think that when they make them they use the same soul for what ever size they’re making whether making a narrow, medium or wide width. The edge of the soul sticks out as much as a half inch around the ball and toe area and I’m afraid I’m going to catch it on something and trip. To break it in I used some Fiebing’s neatsfoot oil and also some Kiwi mink oil, rubbing in generously to soften . I will be using them for casual outings without a lot of walking. Although the upper is breaking in, the soul is still to stiff to do a lot of walking. I’ve got dress shoes that are more comfortable than these. They’re like strapping boards to the bottom of your feet. UPDATE: I bought some Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort insoles. They help the comfort a lot. They’re 3/4 length, but I trimmed some off too.

Excellent style and fit. The perfect summer slip on shoe.
These are a great pair of boat shoes. I previously had a pair of Rockports from years ago that I recently got rid of due to issues not related to wear and tear and knew that I'd get another pair. They run a little larger than some shoes, so while I wear a 9 for some brands, I'm an 8.5 for these. Knowing this, they fit perfectly. Since I have a bit of a wide foot, I untied them, put them on, and then retied them. Overall a nice fit, comfortable, and just as good on an hour long walk as they are just heading to the mailbox. For a casual summer shoe, I highly recommend these.

Very attractive but ran large in width
I bought my husband a pair and he loved them. They fit great initially. However, after wearing for several days they stretched and became very loose. I've since bought him a second pair in a narrower width. He keeps the first pair to slip into quickly at the door and run outside as needed. Easy on, easy off. The second pair is working out well. Initially a bit snug but has stretched perfectly after a few days of wear. He can wear the second pair to town without losing them in the parking lot! What worked for us was keeping the length (10.5) but going from a wide to a normal width. He wears his with socks most of the time. Very attractive all-purpose shoe.

What the Heck Happened with Rockport Shoe Size Construction?
I bought size 11 1/2 Medium Width. Tried them on at home. Too small - what? I have been buying this shoe for over 20 years. I have always been a size 11 1/2. So, Ok, I returned them for size 12. And still the size 12 is too small. What the heck? Why? The shoes I received in this order were made in Vietnam. In year's past the shoes were made in Indonesia. I am wearing a pair of the shoes today that were made in Indonesia. You can see and feel the difference in construction and materials. There is a problem with the specifications at the factory in Vietnam. I have worn these shoes three times thinking my feet would settle into the shoes - NO That Did Not Happen. I would like to exchange these shoes AGAIN. To what size I do not know. HELP

Great shoe but unfortunately shade model is not for me!
Nice looking comfortable boat shoe. The suede leather is nice and will be appreciated by most customers. However, I had to return the shoe because the soft tongue would fold down on me when putting on the shoe. I’m handicapped and use a long Amazon shoe horn but can’t bend over far enough to reach and pull or hold the tongue. The Rockport Beeswax leather model is a heavy leather and poses no problems for me. It is about $35 more but so much more durable. I’ve worn mine hard over one year and they still look great. Love the fact that they have the narrow widths. The size is 12N and works for me. I’ve ordered a second pair of the heavier bees wax model. So, yes I do like that particular shoe.

Advertised sizes are wrong, wide-fit shoes are still narrow
I'm a big fan of Rockport shoes from my time living stateside, but had to give up here. In theory, making shoes available direct from the USA is a good idea, but not if you advertise the sizes wrongly. These were advertised as UK size 10, wide fitting, which is my size. What I received were US size 10, which is more like UK size 9-9.5, so obviously these were always going to be too small. I'm awaiting Amazon's returns service to work its way through, although it doesn't help to have to send this back to the US for £15 with no hard guarantee that the postage will be refunded. However, I will update this review once that has concluded, so you can learn from my experience.Beyond that, there's nothing else wrong with these shoes: their build quality is great (which is why I'm a fan) and they look great. However, I would question whether these are really wide fitting, as they are way too narrow (I'd expect a size down to be too snug, but not impossible to put on.I want nothing more than to be able to get my hands on a nice pair of Rockports, and want nothing less than to have to go through a lengthy returns process: so far, this has been the worst of both worlds, but a swift refund (including duty paid and postage) will change my mind on the scoring. But please, Amazon, let's at least get the proper UK sizes listed.UPDATE: I got my money, duty and postage, minus £2.50, refunded. Positive, I guess, but I'm now £2.50 out of pocket for Amazon's mistake. Great experience there. In future I'm going to give anything with the "Global Store" tag a wide berth, as even independent Chinese stores give better service than this (they invariably make you whole after their mistake). This review stays at 1 star for the poor description, dubious width fitting and less-than-hassle-free returns process that leaves you out of pocket.

I love these all leather Boat Shoes.
I love these all leather Boat Shoes. I've been buying them for 20 years now (I'm on my third pair) and wear them until my wife finally persuades me to renew. I hope these guys keep making them for another 2 decades - they are worth every penny. Don't be tempted to go for cheaper modern imitations - spend the money and get the best; you will NOT regret it!

Sturdy boat shoes
These shoes have a stronger sole construction than most and give quite good support when walking. They are also designed to be worn either with a socked foot or sock less. Good value at the price I paid though at full price you may find that other well known brands are better value.

Good fit
I am size UK 11 and that's what I ordered - I have slightly wide feet and they fitted perfectly. Had a pair before which were 12 and too big.
