Expensive but far superior to vacuum breakers available from big-box stores - silent water use, no spray when shutting off hose bib.

Although these cost more than "normal" vacuum breakers, they don't spray water all over your pants when you shut off the hose bib. That alone is worth the extra cost.

I had ordered a much cheaper replacement for our old vacuum breaker, and it was horrible. In a variety of scenarios (e.g., turning off the spigot, rolling up the hose [even with the spray end open], just turning the sprayer end off, etc.), the cheap one shot a heavy spurt of water that shot out three feet or more. After three months of frustration with that device, I just replaced it with this one...a "Woodford 50H-BR Vacuum Breaker, Brass", which works great...no shower at all! Well worth the higher price. Very happy with this one.

Very nice vacuum breaker. So much better than the one it’s replacing that spits water all over when turning off the spigot. This model drains well but doesn’t spray water all over the place. Well worth the extra money compared to cheaper models.

These are fantastic! It's a shame they're so long, but it's great having a conforming backflow preventer that doesn't spray water all the time.

I had to get this item because my 8 dollar backflow preventer was noisy when water was going through, would spit out water on shut off and did not work well with water timer. This one appears to solve all the above problems and is well made. I would recommend this item. Edit 8/26/2025 Had to remove it after year of use cause it’s noisy . Initially I attached it to the hose bib and was watering early in the morning but had to remove this guy because it was too noisy and I could hear water running through it.

I bought a "premium" brass breaker from the hardware store. Unfortunately, it hissed and dribbled water every time the trigger was released from a garden sprayer or watering wand, which is annoying and not great for the foundation. This unit does not exhibit this behavior - don't know why - but I'm happy.

I picked up this vacuum breaker on the advice of Builder Brigade, a construction YouTuber popular for his exceedingly helpful homeowner tips. This is no exception. The product is superior to your six dollar vacuum breakers from the home center and absolutely prevents my hose bib from spraying everywhere when I close it. It’s also totally eliminated the unpleasant sound from within the house that could be heard when the hose was drawing water. I highly recommend this product to any homeowner experiencing these issues on their property.
