For me the most interesting part of the book is part three where some great methods of activating one's vagus nerve such as Humming , Chanting , Laughter Yoga , Breathing , Sunlight , Acupuncture and lots more are discussed. Good book but would have liked to have seen some case studies discussed.

Life Changing, Life Saving
I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend but didn't read it until over a year later when I thought I was having a nervous breakdown. I was suffering low mood, anxiety, felt confused, and the most exhausted, mentally and physically, that I had ever felt. Until I read this book I could not make sense of what had happened to me. This book gave me the insight that several years of very stressful life events had caused my vagus nerve to not function optimally. It gave me the tools to put myself on a path back to wellness. This information is not out there in normal GP or mental health settings. It really really should be. This is an absolutely transformative book. Many many thanks to Dr Habib.

The most helpful self-help book I have ever read!
This book is amazing. I think these techniques should be taught in schools so the benefits will be life long. I am in my late sixties and had never heard of the vagus nerve until a speech therapist recognised a condition I have and which had baffled my doctors for years. She recommended this book and I am so grateful. All the whys and wherefores, the notable events and subsequent reactions and consequences of my health, all fell into place. The rest of my life will be based on this book and I'm off now to ensure my children and grandchildren enjoy the benefits.

Content predictable. Book started to fall apart on first read, eg pages coming out.

Well explained for the lay reader .I’ve found it really useful to understand the health and well being feedback from my new Fitbit Charge 5 with premium.Has practical tips to help on the well-being journey.I keep going back to various sections, and wouldn’t be without this book.

Giving back to our bodies and helping our future destiny.
I listened to this on Audible in 4 days and it's very accessible - the initial stages I found very informative on the physical structures of our offline & dysregulated bodies and how the typical medical model mutilating our bodies has the author/narrator depicts it has failed us. There is nothing flawed or wrong about our bodies reacting to living a harrowing life of trauma and even with very prolonged life stories such as mine, the book wants to soothe and reactivate our vagus nerves with kindness healthy eating meditation, and rest out of the dynamics that we have been made to become used to - poor vagal tones and living in an entirely sympathetic activated place. I liked the focus on Green Lean & Clean because getting our food from plants is a more preferable fit for ourselves and the world also. It mentions about our breathing has become restricted and about many diseases emanating from the gut. The book has a positive reference from the deplorable medical model and this is very refreshing. What we can immediately do to help our overwrought bodies is very liberating and the re-defined & re-designed narrative towards living 80 % in a Parasympathetic place with nature enriching our bodies meant a lot to me.

I have particularly enjoyed the practical focus of this little book. Carefully written, the book allows for the non-physician to understand the science, dysfunctions, and activation of the vagus nerve masterfully laid out throughout the book. I highly value the simplication of terms maintaining the rigour, and practicality- I suspect- the author intended with this book.

I feel everyone should read this book atleast once their lives. I never knew abt the vagus nerve my therapist recommended it to me. And omg! I'm so thankful . It enlists so many dysfunctionalities in the body which arent being effectively handled by traditional medicine but has results in functional medicine. Even if you don't want to try this medicine, I'd still recommend to atleast recommend to have an wider horizon
