Not suitable for sale in the UK
Bought as a birthday present and when we came to order the ants it says that they can only be ordered if you live in the USA. Went online to see if you could buy the ants elsewhere separately and they were over £50! Not sure if you can use normal garden ants but the information says you need harvester ants. Had to return will order the cheaper one that’s UK based

sticker in the box
The product was fine but there was an address sticker stuck to the bix itself and this would not all come off, it left a sticky residue in the box, this was a gift so very disappointing.

Fine, do the job
It's fine, it does the job. Unfortunately the queen that I ordered separately (from other seller) died slightly after 1 week, so can't really see the ant farm fully developed

Great ant farm; feel free to learn from my experience:
I read the instructions carefully, but somehow ended up with too much moisture in my ant farm. The western harvester ants I ordered separately on Amazon came with honey and seeds with instructions to simply put them in the ant farm. It turns out seeds + water = plants 🤦🏼♀️ It wasn’t long before I had plants and mold growing and most of my ants were dying. I ordered another ant farm to start over and transfer the remaining ants. This ant farm comes with a tube for transporting, but the ants will not go through it, they appear to be too large. To transport the ants, I had to pop of the top, insert a long strip of paper towel that they climbed up on, and then I just dropped that into the new habitat. To prevent plant growth you need to thoroughly crush seeds before mixing them in honey and putting them in the ant farm. I also had to come up with a way to give them enough food to survive and remove any remaining food after a day or 2. I cut a long strip of card stock, putting the food at the bottom and putting a little accordion fold at the top so that I can pull it out with tweezers and just put a new piece of card stock and new food in every 2 days, and this is working well. The ants are very healthy at this time, and much more active than they were when I was feeding them less frequently. Overall, I definitely recommend this ant farm and the western harvester ants. It’s actually nice having two of the habitats so that I can transport the ants back-and-forth so they always have a nice clean home. One more important piece of advice: order your ants from Amazon when it is between 32 and 85°F, otherwise they will die in transit. Good luck!

Order you ants
Bought this for my kids for Christmas. Thankfully we live in a warm country were there are ants outside in the winter. We went into the garden and got ants and followed the directions. Within hours we had tunnels. Super cool! You can order your ants from the company too though..
