Is the pressure coming from your faucet strong to very strong? If it is, then more than likely the gauge is correct. Having owned one of those Camco's, It is not a regulator of pressure, only of flow and I suggest you buy a new "true regulator". They have a brass body (normally), with a black plastic cylinder and numbered gauge sticking up above the hose connections. All the one's I have seen come with instructions on how to set them to your preferred water pressure MAXIMUM or less if you prefer. That setting does not allow the water pressure to rise above that limit to do damage to your RV. I have mine set a little high to compensate for the high calcium water we have which in my mind helps it through the filter. On the discharge of my water filter it is below 40psi. And it just so happened to come at that setting. Check what your RV (or house) is built for and set it to those factory specifications or just slightly under. True regulators cost significantly more than the fake ones that just control flow and protect nothing. There are several on Amazon that are between $25 & $40. Pick one with a good rating and a high number of reviewers and you should be OK. Remember, all equipment wears out and don't be surprised if you need to replace this unit after 5 or 10 years of use. If your regulator gets caught in a freeze, replace it immediately for the chances it surviving is very slim even if it does not leak. **Q: I live in a place where sometimes we do not have water for days and I want to be able to see when there is water coming, is this a good option?** A: This device is a combination regulator / water guage. It limits flow to 40psi at the output. If all you want is to see if you have water pressure go look for just the water pressure guage. **Q: Why is mine reading high? Isnt it supposed to lower the pressure?** A: I believe it's reading the pressure from your source. It should lower the pressure after that. I believe **Q: Why does the gauge cause my water pump to struggle which then causes a power surge which momentarily shuts everything down?** A: You use this to regulate city (RV park) water into your RV.
