It’s actually metal not plastic. I gotta be very carefull using it and making sure not to scratch my car lol. So far, it didn’t snow yet. But always accessible when having it in my trunk. If you can't trust it, it way less than useless! ### ⭐⭐ Poor locking system *by N***O on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 9, 2018* The shovel base seem sturdy enough, and folds into a nice size with a bag. The issue is where the handle attaches to the shovel, the locking system is merely a hex nut. Meaning every time you want to use it you have to have an Allen wrench to tighten it up, and then loosen up to fold it back up. They did not even include the proper size Allen wrench.
