A heavily weighted machete good for chopping, it has 3 grooves in the base of the blade that increase flexibility. Imacasa is based in Santa Ana, El Salvador, but produces machetes for almost all of the Americas. Imacasa machetes and cutting tools are designed to excel in industries such as agricultural, construction and gardening. Review: Good machete - To begin I really had high hopes for this machete. I did some research and realized this company, Imacasa also makes a higher end of cutlery with there Condor line. I knew the machete would come with a basic first grind, which people will call dull. I understood that this was intentional as it allows each person to put a custom edge on. However, I ordered this machete from an desertcart seller, and I ordered a Tramontina 14” machete, and I went to a local hardware store and purchased an 18” Tramontina machete. Initially I thought the Imacasa would be the best, but I was wrong. Both Tramontina machetes are nearly perfect. All three blades are without imperfections and after doing my research the 1070 steel on the Tramontina machetes is great as is the 1075 on the Imacasa. The Tramontina machetes both came with more of an edge, and I quickly got a good edge on them. The Imacasa came a lot duller, and I literally spent twice as long working on the edge. The biggest issue was the handle. Both Tramontina machetes have rock solid tight handles, while the Imacasa machete was loose as soon as I unwrapped the package. I did not expect this on a brand new machete. Maybe this is normal, but both budget Tramontina machetes we’re tight. It is not so bad that I will send it back. I looked online and found a fix I’m trying. I bought some epoxy to fill in the gap and tighten up the handle. Side note, the Imacasa has 2 pieces of wood with rivets, whereas both Tramontina machetes have a 1 piece of wood that is only halfway cut to slide in the tang. Hard to explain as a newbie machete guy. I don’t know if this is any of the issue or not? Bottom line, if I had to buy another one I would want to hold and see for myself what they are like. However I’d lean toward purchasing the Tramontina machetes no doubt. I’d still like to check out a Condor machete. I hope this honest review helps. I still think highly of the Imacasa/Condor company and there machetes, but from my limited experience I prefer the Tramontina machetes. Review: The best option for wood !!! - I didn't purchase from desertcart . If your looking for a machete to handle wood then this is an option worth looking into . The Imacasa machetes are already well established through out the world . This machete with it's deep wide blade will bite deep . With well placed strikes I'm able to go through pressure treated 4x4's in 5-6 swings with minimal effort . The weight of the tool will do the work for you . This will allow you to focus more on placement of the swing . The heat treat on the 1075 steel is great . It sharpens easily in the field and holds it well . This isn't a light weight as machetes go just by the very nature of the pattern . I have used it to chop down trees. The blade needed some work to get a good edge on it. I prefer my Tramontina Bolo Machete for the majority of the work that I do with a machete. Handle wood, fit and finish not perfect, but good enfu. Typically machete needs sanding, shaping, smoothing out, but no big complaints I would not buy another one of these, The Imacasa Carpenero with NO handle is better.
