Is this valve a double union

I just received mine, Nov 1, 2017.  It has a union on each end.  The inlet at the body is also threaded, so you can use both unions or one union or neither.  I replaced a  Wilkins model 70 which had worked well for 30 years.  The Wilkins 70 had a union at the inlet and the discharge pipe threaded right into the Wilkins.   This regulator is the same size as the Wilkins model 70 but about an inch longer if you install both unions.  Since my piping has some slack, I installed both unions, but I could have used one union and screwed the discharge onto my exiting piping to make it the same length as the Wilkins.  My water hammer and pressure surges are now gone.  I looked at rebuilding the Wilkins, which isn't difficult and restores it to new condition, but a rebuild kit costs more than a new regulator.   Moving production to China undoubtedly increased profits for the manufacturer since they no longer pay taxes, but the move tripled the price of rebuild kits so now it's cheaper to replace tan rebuild.

Question 2

Is this one repairable?  Our pressure regulator fails every 3 years.  The plumber says it's because our water is acidic and it eats them up.

Maybe invest in a system to neutralize your water so you dont have to pay for valves every 3 years and the high cost of plumbers fees.Surely its also tearing up your valves in everything you have , showers , faucets , toilets and such if water is that bad. Remember thats also going over your skin...

can it use in the hot water systems?

This should be used on the water coming into your house to reduce the pressure from the city to something that your house and its fixtures can handle. The city supply is >100psi, and you want to reduce that to around 60psi so you don't damage your pipes/fixtures. Mine is right before my gas water heater.

How do i know for sure inlet and outlet Dia.1" not 3/4"?.  Because hate to return

Measure copper tube OD, the actual copper tube is 1.125 in OD (for 1.00” nominal pipe size) or the valve size stamps on the valve
