It burnt the toast, but it did burn evenly. I quickly learned that this thing can get hot, you don't really need to have this set on a high setting to get regular toast. Works well but I was surprised how light it is and concerned about the construction. When you push the toast down the back of the toaster will raise, it's very light. So I will be gentle with it in hopes nothing breaks.
