Good beginner paper IF you don’t do color lifting
I bought pads from a few different brands in the same price range to see if what I was using (Canson XL) was best (Arches is out of my price range, sadly). Pros: this paper is noticeably whiter than any other I’ve seen. The texture is a cold-press-style dimple on the front of each sheet, but interestingly the back is hot-press-style smooth. That makes it a great practice pad IMO, since both textures yield different results. However, if you are using watercolor, this paper does NOT perform well when lifting color. It can take a few swipes with a soft brush, but that’s it — either a firm brush or more than 3-4 swipes starts lifting the paper as well (I found this to be the case with Strathmore, too, but not as bad as this one). Bee has a great price on 6x9 paper, but for inexpensive larger pads, Canson XL is still coming out on top.

Wet on wet don't work
This paper is 246 lb. You'd think it would handle the paint after you laid the water. Not! After several passes of the brush, paper balls appeared. I thought it was my brush. Used several different brushes and they weren't the cause, it was the paper. You'd have to use a tweezer to pull the balls off the paper. Tested the wet on dry and the balls appeared again. Did several passes with a maker and it was fine but it bled. The acrylic paint is fine. I don't have oil paint to test. The back side of the paper is smooth and worked with watercolor but buckles just as if you were painting on a 140 lb paper.

Not what they claim! Not 9x12
I have been using this paper for the last year, but this paper is no longer the 9x12 inches that is states. This exact brand and series USED to be 9x12 inches, now the paper is a full .5 inches shorter and has a different, less absorbent finish— you’ll see in the last image the right is the old paper and the left is the new finish. The size and finish destroyed my projects. I was using this paper religiously all year, will need to find a new brand- very disappointed.

Disappointed
This paper is not suitable for watercolor or similar types of media. I tried pan watercolors, brush tip markers, Derwent graphitint pencils, and Inkense on this paper using different kinds of brushes, from fine detail to wash and found the paper pills very badly no matter how gentle you are. It gets worse if you need to layer color or highlight, even once the paper is dry and the result is a muddy mess. You end up with little paper blobs pretty much everywhere you apply the paint/water. And while the paper is thick enough that the paint doesn't bleed through, the underside puckers with heavier applications.I haven't tried acrylic or oil on this paper and I'm reluctant to try. I decided to give it a shot based on all the positive reviews but I'm not at all impressed. I'll probably wind up using it to test color swatches or something.

Professional paper quality! (Tested with acrylic paint)
It's awesome! I'm a beginner painter, so I don't have much knowledge on painting paper. But this pad worked really well with my acrylic paint, both thick and watered down (like watercolor). The paper handles water well and dries nicely with the paint. It's thick paper as well so it's less likely to warp. I will definitely get another one of these pads when I need one! I had no problems but if someone else did/does, the seller seems more than willing to communicate and help shoppers. All-in-all a good purchase. 👍

Not what it looks like in the photo
Was kind of disappointed when it came in. I was expecting it to look like the photo (a full sheet of paper). Instead it has a huge hole at the bottom and looks like a pallet page. Very little space the art I have my clients to..the paper pad is much smaller than expected as well.

A yes from me
I bought this pad to use with acrylic paint and am very happy with the quality. I was looking for a paper that didn't buckle and curl and so far this is delivering. I do tape down the paper until the paint dries. I will definitely purchase again

SMOOTH PAINTING WHEN COMPLETED
I am planning on using this for acrylic painting, but have not done so yet. I will be glad to review it when I have used it. It appears to be great paper, and I am hoping it will not "buckle" when paint is applied, like to the pad I am presently doing a painting on.
