## Description

AOC-SLG3-2M2-O

Review: Works well without problems for me. - Works well in my computer with a Supermicro X12SPi-TF motherboard. It is running with two drives in it without problems. I did not have to do anything in BIOS to set lane splitting for it to work properly. All-in-all a solid product that performs without problems for me.
Review: More Nvme's! - Slots are far enough apart to support two drives with large heat sinks. Of course you will only see one drive if your bios/motherboard does not support bifurcation. Works perfectly on my Supermicro X11DPi MB's with two WD_BLACK 8TB SN850P M.2 with heatsinks - WDBBYV0080BNC-WRSN. OS: VMware ESXI 8.03.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it come with a high profile or low profile bracket?**
A: It comes with both: Standard and low-profile PCI brackets.

**Q: Does this work in a synology ds1618+ in place of a m2d18?**
A: Short answer: no. This Supermicro card lacks a PCI Express controller switch, so it will only work with mainboards that support PCIe port bifurcation. The M2D18 has chipsets for a PCI Express switch (IDT 89HPES24T6G2) and SATA controller (Marvell 88SE9235), so the lane splitting is done without bifurcation support on the Synology mainboard.

**Q: Does it work well on the pc? is raid feature supported? is there an io display led?**
A: If your UEFI supports RAID and your main board is byfuctional you can set up RAID0 or RAID1 array in the UEFI. Make your m.2 SSD settings in the UEFI is set to RAID and then go to your RAID utility and create an array. You can only do this before you install an O/S and make sure you have the RAID drivers on the thumb drive. If you already install an O/S In any version of Windows go to Disk Manager and create a software RAID Disk. (Make the two m.2 into 1 big m.2 SSD).

**Q: Will this work on adell xps 8920 with z270**
A: I doubt it: only one PCIe slot has enough lanes (x16), and it's not likely that slot supports bifurcation.

To confirm you could look through the BIOS for an option to change that x16 slot into x4/x4/...

I found this outline of that BIOS and don't see anything about bifurcation:

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works with Dell Precision T5810 - boots from Socket1 in Legacy (non-UEFI) Mode Also!
*by P***G on January 23, 2020*

Installed in Dell Precision T5810 workstation in x8 lane with Intel 1TB SSDs. BIOS is set to "Legacy" mode, and surprised that it will still boot from Socket-1. Drive in Socket-2 is accessible, but it cannot be selected for boot even though visible in BIOS and temporary boot-selection menu ("F12"). I also had ordered the ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 PCIe 3.0 X4 Expansion Card V2. Under same BIOS "Legacy" settings, it will only boot from Socket-4, but other Sockets 1,2 & 3 drives are all visible. I think the ASUS Hyper M.2 is a better value in my case as it is used to triple boot: Centos-7 (Socket-4) and "grub2" allowing me to get to Windows-10 (Socket-3), Centos-8 (Socket-2). Socket-1 is just used as an NTFS backup disk. Have not tried UEFI BIOS setting for either case.
