Baofeng DM-1701 Dual Band Tier I & II DMR Radio 3000 Channels, Color Display with PRG Cable & Earpiece

I loved my UV5Rs so I wanted to stick with baofeng for my DMR. Big mistake. I tried over and over to get this thing to connect to the Cps software. I got it to connect once was able to read the radio and write a few test channels to it. After that it NEVER connected again. Tried older versions, Every available version of firmware and installed every usb driver I could find. Nothing. After about 5 hours of trying to get it connect and scouring the internet for any type of solution(I think I read literally every article about the Dm1701) I boxed it up and returned it. tyt md-380 is on its way I regret not going this route to begin with.

I purchased one Baofeng DM-1701 - Had a very hard time upgrading the USB driver in my laptop so that the unit would connect for a firmware upgrade and to program channels. The unit utilizes CPS software for the DM-1701 unit. After some time and reading the included PDF Word file on a disc - the USB driver MUST be installed on the PC/laptop or it will not communicate with the unit. Patience is key. I have read some comments from others that they returned the unit - but once this USB driver is installed - it works well. The unit is not defective - its the software and the PC (USB driver) that has the issue. After getting one to work I liked it so much that I bought another DM 1701. It is a unit built in China but with that said the product and cost makes it well worth the purchase. UHF/VHF and DMR in one. after programming I was able to add many frequencies and name them as well as export the (plug) information from the unit to an excel file. I can Export and import files. It was easy to update the second unit with all the codes from the first one - done in seconds.

I ordered two of these radios together. One of the two worked fine but the other radio would not transmit any voice when transmitting. The receiving radio would break squelch but it was as if it was transmitting nothing. This was both digital and analog mode and in analog I tried receiving with other radios but it was the same result, it would open squelch but nothing was received and this was without and with vox/mic. I sent that radio back and got a replacement, which worked fine for a few weeks with light use but then one of them developed the same problem where it would transmit nothing but it would break squelch. Sending them both back. Seriously disappointed in these radios as I've had never had a problem with other Baofeng model radios.

Garbage. I bricked it in 5 minutes. Kept asking for password when i turned it back on. Nothimg worked. I sent it back.

I bought 15 and will be returning these. All 15 came with programming software that is not for this radio. The programming cable is chipped and doesnt work with these either. There is no tech support and noone to talk to. Cant find compatible software online either. Until I hear back I'm keeping it at 1 star

Probably need to get the correct programming cable. Mine did not ship with the correct one. Other than that’s it’s great.

Es un radio estéticamente hermoso, operativamente cumplió con mis espectativas, en realidad solo configuré los canales que se usan en mi trabajo, no lo actualicé sin embargo fue fácil configurarlo, tiene muy buen volumen se escucha claro y lo tengo probado con un alcance de 5 km, con uso muy intensivo la batería me da una autonomía de aproximadamente 12 hrs
