It works, you just need to keep it warm.
Its messy. No matter how hard you try to prevent it, eggs get stuck in the crevices where the containers meet. I failed to hatch my first batch in this. I added a heat lamp and within 24 hours, the second batch did indeed hatch. Overall, its not bad. I wouldnt recommend it to someone hatching shrimp for food as the hatch rate wasnt very high... but for an educational experience, its perfect.

On top of that the hatch rate was terrible as there weren't a whole lot in the container ...
I bought this to try to simplify the process of hatching and collecting brine shrimp for my angelfish fry. I think in two attempts I got 10 total brine shrimp to swim into the collection cup. On top of that the hatch rate was terrible as there weren't a whole lot in the container that simply failed to enter the collection cup. I followed the directions exactly and when that failed I tried a warm water bath to see if that would increase hatch rate. I also tried using eggs that didn't come with this thinking maybe they sent me bad eggs. Save your money and buy the hatchery dish from brine shrimp direct, it's a little more expensive but comes with a bunch of eggs and works like a dream.

Cheap plastic. Doesn't work properly. No hatches in mix
The idia is amazing. However the product does not consider you need the water to be moved with an airstone. Also it cracked after a week. Also had no hatches. Poor salt mix poor quality eggs. And too small of hatchery

Perfect for certain use cases
There are a lot of negative reviews on this that exist because they don't get what the actual use case for this item is. It is the simplest, easiest, most passive way to hatch brine shrimp in small numbers. This product is made for the aquarist who has just a betta or two, or a small number of nano fish, or a very small number of fry, and it's perfect in those instances. You get a reliable but small supply of baby brine daily for just 2-3 minutes worth of work, without needing air pumps, sieves, a heater and a light. Just add water, a packet of salt and eggs, and sit it on a countertop where there's some ambient light and a comfortable temperature, and you'll get baby brine shrimp. That simple. Are the hatch rates good compared to what you could get with virtually any other hatching method? Of course not. But if you don't need much quantity of brine shrimp and you want to hatch them the absolute simplest and easiest way, that's what this is.

Good value but can be a little tricky
I was very excited to try this product out, unfortunitlly my first batch of brine shrimp did not work so well and I had noticed that there was a very small detail i had missed in the instructions. Once i did the instuctions to completion i did have success and my fish LOVE eating live brine shrimp. The main downside to this product is it is only desighned to HATCH the brine shrimp, you gotta use them within 2 or 3 days of seeing them. For me these are a bit to small and i now raise them in a separate bowl to adult size before feeding. Also if compared to other methods of feeding your fish this can be somewhat more costly as you have to reorder brine shrimp eggs. All and all, its a good set up and really not too expensive, but a little. And you can not see success if you don't follow the institutions very very carefully.

Not what it seems
The reason why I’m only giving this product 2 to 3 stars is because I’ve had this product for several weeks now and most of the brine shrimp eggs do not hatch. I’ve had very few Brian shrimp babies hatch from this specific hatchery. Everything that I have read online recommends using some kind of clear container with an error bubbler to circulate air and also to help prevent the eggs from sitting at the bottom like this device all of the eggs in the packet of Brian shrimp just sink and do not hatch. I have tried to out of the three packets and same thing every time. Also it’s recommended that you keep near a light source so that way whatever babies hatch they are attracted to light as well as it helps keep them warm you need to keep this product in an area where it’s at least 80° for optimal use which I have done and I still have not been able to hatch as many hatchlings so it’s not necessarily a bad product it just doesn’t work to the description. Possible that maybe the batch of eggs I received were still in bad who knows but you’re better off just buying the eggs and doing your own research online and make shifting your own container far less inexpensive

Works like a charm and so easy to use!
I’d been trying with my own set up (small “tank”, aeration, heater, light, etc) and a different brand of eggs and not having any luck. I spotted this kit and laughed it off, thinking that based on everything I’ve been reading about hatching brine shrimp there’s no way this could possibly work. Out of desperation I ordered it anyway. I figured it was cheap enough so not much lost of it didn’t. Well, it works! So simple, so easy to set up, so easy to use! Less than 24 hours after setting it up, at 75 degrees (according to thermometer sticker included in the kit), and I have baby shrimp. My fish are fed and happy! I’ve purchased more eggs (from this brand) and will continue to use this kit until it falls apart…then I’ll buy another! I’m so happy with it!!! If you’re just starting out, and don’t have a massive amount of fish to feed, buy it!! It’s great!!

Waste of time and money
The product is simple, and there's nothing wrong with the materials, only the design. However, there are several issues. 1. Not many baby brine shrimp (BBS) swim through the hole into the freshwater canister, regardless of light or mix - even when there is lots of BBS in the water below. 2. The salt/egg packets are ridiculously expensive compared to buying your own eggs and salt. 3. Directions suggest filling container with water before adding the mix. I suggest you stir the mix in a separate container not almost full of water so you can properly dissolve the salt. Even better, dissolve your own salt into water in a separate container first, then add your own eggs. Even if you do this, you'll just get a lot of BBS below, and little in the canister. Other BBS hatcheries are much better (I have a circular version from brine shrimp direct and its much better) and don't require the annoyance of filling a small canister repeatedly with water, trying to keep it from dripping, and only getting a small harvest of BBS for your trouble. They also don't use the word "educational" while charging 5X+ the price per batch of BBS - assuming you buy their mix instead of eggs and salt separately.

The Hatcher looks like it’s picture.
I gave this product 5* because it was well built and like the seller described. But I followed the directions exactly. No brine. I waited another day. I didn’t get 1 brine shrimp. I have been growing brine shrimp for years, and many different methods. This is the first time I didn’t get a single shrimp. I tried the way it says on included egg bag, and I got a great hatch. ?!

Really doesn't work
Added the salt and brine mixture to the water. I used pure aged water without Chloramines (not used in my area) or Chlorine, the same water I use for my aquariums. I didn't expect a perfect hatch but didn't get anything. Starting on the second day examined a sample under the microscope and didn't see any activity or empty egg cases. 3rd day found a couple of empty cases, but no living shrimp. By the fifth day still only a few empty cases <2% no brine shrimp. Monitored for a few more days then gave up. When sampling I took the cover off and sampled from different locations in the water column using a pipette. Even if the shrimp hatched the system is poorly constructed and not well engineered. The catchment container did not fit correctly in the top of the "hatchery" it was like the cap of the bottle was from a different source that was ever so slightly larger than the opening it was meant to fit in. Was kind of hoping I could get some brine shrimp to feed some baby angels, without using aeration. You might get some hatching under ideal locations but expecting the small naupliar to swim to the light and into the small hole of the cap is kind of unrealistic. I should have known better.

It’s okay
The product is good but, I only had success hatching shrimp with one of the three included packages. I followed the same process each time, as described on the packaging. With that rate of success this in not a great value for the price. On a positive note our fish did love the ones that did hatch.

Works!
I started to have hundreds of baby shrimp after about 16 hours

Cute for Kids
This is a cute little shrimpery, but hardy any of the eggs hatched. It’s adorable as a cool thing for a kid to watch a couple dozen wee shrimp swim around, but don’t buy with intent of using it to hatch shrimp to feed fish with. It does clearly state it isn’t intended for such and isn’t intended to grow the shrimp- just hatch them, so nothing misleading. I just expected more to hatch than what did. It comes with several ready to use packets of salt/eggs, so you get more than one go at it. :)
