When a tragic accident takes the life of seventeen-year-old Raven Roth s foster mom and Raven s memory she moves to New Orleans to live with her foster mother s family and finish her senior year of high school. Starting over isn t easy. Raven remembers how to solve math equations and make pasta, but she can t remember her favourite song or who she was before the accident. When strange things start happening impossible things Raven starts to think it might be better not to know who she was in her previous life. But as she grows closer to her foster sister, Max, her new friends, and Tommy Torres, a guy who accepts her for who she is now, Raven has to decide if she s ready to face what s buried in the past and the darkness building inside her. From the #1 New York Times bestselling co-author of Beautiful Creatures Kami Garcia, and artist Gabriel Picolo, comes this first graphic novel in the Teen Titans series for DC Ink, Teen Titans: Raven. Review: LOVE the art - Maybe I'm just pretty easily satisfied, but this was another 5 star read for me. I've been eyeing it on my shelf since I bought it a couple weeks ago, and so today while continuing to drag myself through The Devil's Thief I eventually gave up in favour of reading this instead. Previously my main point of reference for these characters probably would have been from Titans and while I liked Raven in that, she definitely wasn't my favourite character (that place was reserved for Gar and only Gar), so reading this I was surprised by how much more I liked her. I also got myself a phat crush on Max. I loved the art style a lot, and the colours, I've decided that Gabriel Picolo is now one of my favourite illustrators and I absolutely cannot wait to get Beast Boy in 2020. Review: Very enjoyable graphic novel - I really enjoyed this graphic novel. I have been a big fan of the Teen Titans for a good few years now, and particularly a fan of Raven, I like the character archetype and the obvious parallels to being an outsider and feeling alienated as a teenager, and this book really leans into that for the younger reader. The art is beautiful, and for me really complements and captures a lot of the angst. I recognise that some people will not be a fan of the nature of the character, or the way it is written, as this is an attempt to appeal to a young adult audience, but without spoilers I will say that I found it engaging, emotional and easy to read.

So great!! Loved!!
SO GOOD. Loved the art and the storyline. Absolutely adored Max!! Definitely my fave character aside from Raven. So much great representation in this too!! It had Black, Disability (wheelchair, crutches), Muslim - Hijabi, Asian, POC, & WLW representation. TW/CW - Car crash (graphic); Death of a parent (graphic); Adoption; Foster care; Bullying (detailed); Suicide ideation (brief mention); Parental abuse (past); Kidnapping (mentioned); Sex trafficking (mentioned); Abandonment

A great yarn, beautifully drawn.
A perfect book for young teens exploring the genre. There is just the right amount of flirting and then the big Daddy reveal comes and it gets very clever indeed.

A great setup for future comics!
Raven was my favourite titan from the Teen Titans cartoon and this was my first comic so I just to buy this. Although to some this comic could be uneventful, I know this was just an introduction to Raven as a character. I enjoyed the characters that were introduced and would love to see some side characters come back in future works such as Max(obviously) and Thomas. One critique I have is just at some points it gets a little cringey but that's to be expected for a book about teens. I love love love Gabriel's art work and I just know Beast Boy is going to be great! Can't wait for all of the Titans to be introduced and for them to go on adventures together!! Review by a BBRae fan

Toller Comic!

It was an interesting take on Raven
Definitely not the same Raven I know from the teen titans show but I can see it blending in. The Raven prior to putting all her emotions into her mirror. I like that she's just trying to be a normal teenage girl and that she has mild amnesia. We don't get to meet her as super moody for no reason but instead as herself being affected by her powers little by little. The story plotline itself was... Okay and I think could have used a BIT more work BUT it was a nice introduction and I'm easily pleased. Only thing is I wasn't big on the weird and sudden romance and to be quite honest, put that completely out of my head. The art style was really beautiful and I thought the choice to make Raven be the pop of purple throughout the novel a cool choice, leaving the rest of the characters looking mostly black and white. I also like that the Raven in this story is a bit more Witchy with her telepathy powers and she can read minds. I'm not too caught up on the lore but has Raven always been able to read mines?! Overall I enjoyed it and I got the rest of the series which follows, including Beast Boy and the one with her and beast boy :)
