The threads on my original were stripped and the cap did not fit. Water got in the gas and over winter a black slug built up. This unit and the cap (one that I purchased on AMZ) fits perfect. I had to put plastic wrap between the cap and fuel tank top to keep it from leaking. The new tank is molded correctly and the cap fits perfect. Very easy to install. All you need is a 10mm deep socket and a pair of pliers. The supplier was also superb.
