How To Draw Manga: Maids & Miko

Glad I got this
I used to get these HOW TO DRAW MANGA books at the Walden Book Store in the mall, when I was a middle schooler teen growing up. Every time I get one now, I get the nostalgia memories of sitting in the corner on the floor of the store near the display window being surrounded by white shelves of books, and the sound of the echoing voices of shoppers in the mall. I used to love to draw and watch anime. Though I haven't sketched in a few years, I still like to buy these now and then to add to my collection. It's sort of a nostalgic hobby I suppose. They helped me a lot back then when I needed help learning the shading techniques and wrinkles in the clothing, and male and female body shapes and structure. Now they might be a little outdated, but I still enjoy going through them for the memories of those trips to the mall and getting these at the Walden Book Store. The Walden Book Store, Wizards of the Coast shop, and Sam Goody were my favorite stores and the highlight of the trip. *Sigh* Good times at the mall back then. I wouldn't trade those days for anything.

10/10 literally just references and tips for maids and Mikos
out of all of my reference/art books this one is by far my favorite one ever. the book is in two sections maids first then mikos the opening part of each shows the anatomy of the outfit and tips to drawing it then the rest is just reference art of the outfits in different views/ poses.I am currently studying just normal anatomy and once I'm done with that this book will help me master my two favorite outfits so i give this book a ten out of ten.

great ruffle reference
I am an artist and I love drawing maid characters (duh) - This book has great illustrations with normal/human proportioned characters doing normal things "lifting arms, sitting down, etc" at different angles so you can see how the fabric reacts while being pulled upwards by the arm, etc. Not for those who want to look at "sexy art!" lol. Great reference!

The pictures in this book were clear and adorable!
The pictures in this book were clear and adorable! It made a great gift for our friend, and will for anyone who is a fan of manga/anime, and happens to love art!. It includes a variety of different poses, outfits, and textures to practice with, but if you are a beginner you'll need patients! If you're looking for a simple walk through you might want to look somewhere else, as this focuses more on small details than the basic style of manga. That being said, it's a great item to have simply for the novelty.

Good guide
The picture on this book is misleading the actual contents are way more reserved than that, which i was happy about, and it was filled with loads of models and different perspectives and poses that can really help, although its not a traditional step by step HTD (how to draw) book we see in america its more of a guide for those who are experienced...all in all i liked it and it was sent fast and in great condition thank you

meh....
when I got the book I was really excited... I was excited cause I thought it would teach you how to draw pictures like on the cover... well.. guess what? NO! It just has crappy drawings... yeah it gave me some ideas on how I can draw a maids uniform... but it was really bad drawings... I mean it looks as if the person didn't want to draw them properly or he/she was in a hurry to draw it... yes I will still use it though....

so-so
About the maids: It is nothing fun like the cover makes it seem. I expected to learn how to draw frills and different ways to draw maid outfits. Instead, they showed a select few of boring, traditional outfits.About the miko: It was pretty good. Not much was expected from this. Both: Every couple of examples held a broom, but that's it.They showed the same picture (mostly a girl with one arm on her side and one in the air)in different angles. It wasn't very helpful. What WAS helpful was that they showed girls laying down and most books don't show you that. This is a book if you want to learn how to draw dull (realistic and not very manga-like), but traditional maids. Miko's are okay in this book.
